Another successful 2 day 1000 metre (1094 yards) shoot was held by the Osoyoos Wildlife Federation this past weekend. Some excellent shooting performances were recorded in spite of the usual strong, changeable winds and heavy mirage conditions. The shoot was well attended with a total of 79 scores being recorded. Our range is at an altitude of 4,000 ft and we use the NRA 600 yard target. The relatively small 6" X ring usually limits the number of shoot-offs to determine a winner.

A summary of the 1st place winners follows;

1st Place Unlimited Rifle – Darren Scherger of Westbank, B.C. with a perfect score of 30 –3X
1st Place Best Three Shot Group – Darren Scherger with a group measuring exactly 3.0”
1st Place Hunting Rifle – Ron Hiller of Sidley Mountain, B.C. with an excellent score of 27-1X
1st Place Standing Unsupported – Aubrey White of Osoyoos, B.C. with a lucky score of 9 – 0X

Darrens great performance was shot with his Sako TRG-42 in .338 Lapua using 250gr Lapua Scenars pushed by 96.0 grs of VV N170

Well done Darren, that was one of the prettiest groups I have had the pleasure of scoring. Doesn't get much better then that.

Great event Banished. Lots of fun and you kept the bugs away this year.

Maybe next year, you can ask the air to behave :)

Any chance of getting the weekend scores?

Jerry

Suuuuuuure. You can shoot beside the guys using them. I will personally put you beside DonP and his anti-gopher artillery piece he shoots with :D

That would be fun...

Now Ian what do you mean? He just wouldn't need a hair cut or a shave for at least a week:p. No I don't want to shoot a brake and I don't want to shoot beside a brake.

I'll bet it does...(understatement of the year!!!!)

Incredible performances by Darren, wow.

Thanks for the complements everyone .
Iam still fairly new to this and learning from some of the best . I believe the heavier bullet was the key .
The other shooters where putting bullets in there with ther .223s and 6brs. that shows alot of skill under the wind conditions we had.

CyaN1de I will let you know when this competition is happening next year .

Where in Osoyoos does this take place!?!

My Dad's very good, retired Swiss friend, keeps bragging about this 1000m shoot that takes place on his property every year and i wonder if this is the same place. If its just outside Bridesvile - out on the flat to a target 1000 meters up the hillside its the same place...

Every summer he tells me to come up for it but i always miss it...

Congrats !

Congrats Darren on your great score & group, ( Wendy says that nose cleaner , TRG with the muzzle brake, would be hard to be next to in a competition ) :) , Thanks Richard, yep, starting to get back on my feet, been a long haul , lookin forward to the Frosty this Fall.
