Other than 1911 for .45 ACP

Another nod for the Grand Power P45 or P45L. I have the K22 X Trim and it is one of the sweetest shooting poly service style pistols i have ever shot.

I am partial to H&Ks. They have a long history of making polymer-framed .45s and the quality is there. They definitely feel like a hunk of gun, compared to, say, a Glock. Though I'd be willing to give the Walther PPQ 45 a good long look. There's also the FNX-45, which I dig in its Tactical configuration.

In metal-frame flavours, there's the SIG P220, and CZ-97... off the top of my head.

Glock 21 SF 3rd Gen
Sig P220R Elite Scoprion (desert tan)
HK MARK 23 SOCOM .45
Colt 01991 Government .45

Those are the only only .45 ACP pistols I would ever consider, and owned all of them except the Sig P220R which I love, but never owned.

Ruger American Pistol.

For many, many reasons.

Designed and tested for a diet of +P & +P+ ammo, and with a FULLY SUPPORTED CHAMBER, no bulged brass and or hand load worries.

Excellent trigger.

Check out the reviews...built just 'a little tougher' than most....
