Other than 1911 for .45 ACP

You should take a look at the CZ97B. You will need a medium large or large hand but it is quite the gun. Accurate and reliable with 10 rounds at your disposal. Mine shoots as well as my 1911.

Take Care

What are some excellent pistols for shooting .45 ACP other than the 1911 design? I'm especially interested in Europen gun makers except for Glock. I love the 1911 and .45 ACP but looking for alternatives. Thanks

It's not Euro, but my M&P45 shoots very well, has less recoil and muzzle flip than a 1911 and has a grip that fits small hands much better than any other 45 besides a single stack 1911. If your hands are large then that is no problem because the M&P45 has the replaceable backstraps, so you just make it as big as you need it. The stock M&P trigger leaves a fair bit to be desired but some tuning makes it all better and you can get the Apex kit if you don't want to tinker on your own.

I agree with Pardini GT45. I had the pleasure of shooting the GT-9 and it is a real « Rolls Royce »

Cz97... a beautifully crafted pistol...tank like...and Cz reliability....had one ..will have another...agree slim grips improved the feel unless you have big hands...

My vote would be one of the H&K USP-generation .45s...either a USP itself (regular, Expert or Tactical) or a Mark 23. I've tried and failed to like the HK45 (I've owned....and sold...four).

The CZ97 is a big gun—with factory wood grips I couldn't reach the DA trigger, and I've got no issues at all with the Mark 23 or my Desert Eagle. I've never held a handgun (and I've fired a bunch) with such a long reach. Thin grips, as mentioned above, help a lot to the point where it was manageable.
