Yeah, we got a pointman in Ottawa! We can make this happen for the Montreal and Quebec area M14 lovers! Also the Ottawa folks. We could not make the Vankleek Hill GC venu happen so here we go.

It's official! Andy is my point man to coordinate the Ottawa Hungry M14 Clinic for you E Ont/Quebec dudes!

* Date: Saturday 20 Mar 2010
* Location: Smith Falls Fish & Game Club
* Cost: $ 35
* Timings: 0900 start - Likely finish up around 1600 hrs

Material Covered:

- Tools for tweaking, tools to avoid, tools that are nice to have but expensive, tools that are overrated and too expensive
- Gadgets that are nice to have, need to have, and useless to have (but I had to buy it to show you)
- Tools that you can make yourself instead of buying, tools that you can have buddies (owe you favors) make up for you
- Stripping the boomstick (you will be surprised at what I can show you)
- Assembling the boomstick, and what to look for so that worthwhile tweaks can be or should be made
- Tweaks that work, tweaks that don't work, expensive tweaks so yer #### does not fall off
- Useless tweaks unless you have more money than shooting ability (many stories to follow at the clinic)
- Common pitfalls, expensive tweaks that work, more ways to ensure that yer #### don't fall off
- Lunch and then tweaking in the afternoon, shimming, pounding out more shims (all hands on activities)
- Lots of networking and socializing all the time. This is priceless (even if the $ 35 only covers my costs).

* Things to bring: your M14, some basic tools, notebook, pens, digital camera, rags, ball peen hammer, punches, screwdrivers, more punches, TIG Welder, Service Truck (vise for rebarreling), fired brass for us to measure, plastic or rubber mallet, wood block or 2, Black and Decker Workmate (clamping ability for your barreled action or stock), masking tape, duct tape, Loctite (blue and red stuff), more to follow as I remember or remind myself.

* Registration: PM (don't use email) me on the board. I'll send you payment instructions. You can choose EMT (electronic money transfer for you online banking fans) or Snail Mail cheques/buried cash. We'll just stick with the fee ! I will use this forum (right here ) to monitor the numbers and payment details. With your payment, ensure that you remind me of your CGN handle.

I just arranged it this evening.

I belong to EOHC, but our facilities are not satisfactory. I'm not a member there at SFFGC, but I made a call and reserved the Club House.

Kinda strange that a member of one club has to take the initiative to bring revenue into another club and provide spaces for a clinic.....

Thanks Andy.

To have guests shoot at the range we probably should get all SFFGC members who are going to the clinic organized to sign in the guests. We are allowed to have two guests per member, and each guest has to pay 5$. I can help out with that. I'll be meeting one of the execs tomorrow so I'll chat with him about it.

To the guys at the SFFGC, this is very recent news and a bit of a surprise to you, but I am the "Point Man" for this clinic, and so I should be the single point of contact for organizing this event. Things are already underway.

If you have a suggestion or offer of help, thanks for sure, but please take it off-line with me by PM. We can't have multiple people going in multiple directions.

Hey I'm just making a suggestion, don't want non-members at the clinic to think they have free use of the range unless its arranged in advance. We've had a "history" of non club members that has caused some grief with the CFO. As a result the exec is sensitive about things like that.

I think most, or all, of the clinic will be in the clubhouse and not on the range. Not sure that the member/guest thing really applies for clubhouse functions. I know the army cadets use the facility at times, and I'm sure they don't all have to have a member sign in each cadet. For those that want to use the range, I'm sure we'll have enough members that can extend guest privileges to non-members.

The cadets don't shoot at the range, they just use the grounds for camping and activities.

Anyway Andy's taking care of it.

BTW I just found out the CFO shut down the 200 yrd range, but we can shoot to 100 yards there.

I figured it was like that Andy, and the post was tongue in cheek. I know you have all the contact info needed to do this.
I tried to get the last area clinic at the club and am glad you can get this one there.

Should be an great time!

Unfortunately I won't be able to help out as I have Surgery the day before.

Cheers!

FYI - since I sold one M14 (I'm now down to two), I will have some surplus parts for sale at the clinic. This is an opportunity to see them in person and have them installed at the same time.

A Boyds Nutmeg Laminate Stock
A Polytech Stock
A shorty (18 1/2") barrel.
Some rear sight parts, a Marstar Guide Rod, and other misc parts
Some once-fired military 308 brass

I won't know exactly what I have and what I'll be asking until closer to the Clinic.
