Last week I was out at the range and put another box of ammo through my Dominion Arms Outlaw from Canadaammo. I've put around 700 rounds through it without a hitch. (yeah, I know, I just like shooting the thing.)
Upon packing up to head home, I shook the gun and it sounded like there was a part loose inside of it. That really got me concerned of course, so when I got home I called Canadammo. Within a couple of hours I got a call from them telling me they would be happy to have me send it back to them for replacement or repair, all shipping paid, or ... I could try take it apart and fix it since they were pretty sure they knew what had happened. They guessed it was a little screw from the top of the receiver that had worked itself loose.
I was a bit skeptical, but I'm kind of an optimistic sort of guy, so yesterday evening I held my breath and took the gun apart. Thanks to some of the previous threads on that particular gun here on CGN, I could see the different parts, and managed to get it apart with no problem.
I was amazed at how simple it really is. There was a lot of grease and oil that was gooping things up in there, so it was good to be able to give it a good cleaning. All the parts seemed to fit tightly, with no wear or stress marks after all the shells I'd fired through it. I quickly found a small screw and a little empty threaded hole along the top part of the receiver, and with a little Guntite applied I put it all back together. Total time, about 45 minutes.
I called Canadaammo back and told them there would be no need to return the gun, and thanked them for their time.
I know a lot of folks think that Chinese guns are crap and don't trust them. I can understand that perspective - my new Mossberg 590A1 is in a whole different class of weapon. But I have to say that I totally love my Outlaw. The price was very reasonable and the service at Canadaammo is superb. Quick response, accurate information, and a really cool product line that can't be found anywhere else. I just can't wait till the Grizzly pumps arrive this spring.
Now that I know the gun inside and out, I'm thinking of modding it a bit... sanding the stock and painting it matte black with some sort of Tec-Cote finish, lopping a couple of inches off the stock... hehehe.
So hey, in a world of crappy service, its nice to have great service and a company that will spend the time with you to make sure you're happy with your purchase. Plus, I learned a lot about my gun, and am more confident about taking guns apart to learn about how they work. Very cool
