Over-under 24 inch bbls

I have the sxs 200b and the ou 103fe with grade 3 wood. The ou is exceptional. The sxs i use most often hunting. For the money i believe they are the best bang for the buck hunting doubles

If you ever had a blond-moment when grouse hunting, and grabbed the wrong shells, please raise your hand...

First hunt of the season. Just getting out of the truck to walk a lane, Oh! a grouse right over there... Quick, lets load the gun.
- 1st shot, boom (gee, that was loud. forgot to put my hear defenders)... grouse still bobbing like nothing happened. I must have over-shot.
- 2nd shot, aim a tad lower, boom (gee, that kicked a lot of dirt)... Grouse fly-off...

Reload... and realized that I was shooting slugs at that poor little thing. Good thing I missed G:

My hunting buddy fired a load of buckshot at one last week. From a 9.8" barreled ou. Grouse is likely deaf but otherwise unharmed. He did manage to knock over a couple grouse with his street howitzer

I bought one of those with chokes and it is surprisingly well regulated for the price. I wish it had sling swivels.

Buck and slugs are doable but spicey, very short LOP on it. I think I would prefer the slightly longer barrels

Honestly it is great to pack, but I would prefer the 24 inch huglu I had.

His patterned well but sprayed slugs everywhere. He was using only score slugs so i wouldnt rule it out yet. Im going to load some of my home cast slugs for it to see how it performs. Hes been shooting mostly minishells out of it. His has chokes as well. If it had a full sized stock id buy one but as is ill stay with a classic sxs

Browning made the Upland Specials with 24" barrels... I had a few of them, but they all felt very "clubby" to me... I have settled on 26" as a minimum and currently have a 1977 BSS 20 ga with 26" barrels and a 1982 Superlight 12 gauge with 26" barrels... the Superlight 12 with 26" barrels gets passed over continually for a 1984 Superlight 12 ga with 28" tube, to me it just handles better, especially swinging on wild flushing birds. My 2 coppers.

They might be OK if you were a very small person, but for someone my size short barreled guns point like a limp ####!

I like 26-28" in 20 gauge and 28-30" in 12 gauge usually, for a dedicated upland gun I'd look at a 26" 20 gauge as I have a few 28" 12 gauge guns already.
