Over/Under guns

I'm not going to quote anyone here but I find personal attacks really irritating. A difference of opinion is one thing...and perfectly fine. But are uncalled for pot shots at people really necessary? I enjoy these forums and view them as a place to amicably exchange ideas and knowledge and as a place to learn something new. I'd hate to see our Canadian forum infected by a "Bubba" from the US.
If you are referring my post feel free to quote me.

While on the subject of irritation however what I find really irritating are those who constantly post information that is wrong, don't check basic facts or do a little research before they run off at the keyboard.

What I further find irritating is self-appointed arbiters of what is "called for" and what isn't. If a post offends you take it up with a mod.

Feeling a little paranoid are we? I didn't quote anyone or mention any names.

However....if the shoe fits........yada yada.

Appears this is another forum where only "certain" people are permitted to have an opinion.

Yes you didn't quote anyone, an indication you don't have the courage of your convictions to go directly at the poster who concerns you whether it's me or someone else.

If you don't like what anyone has to say why not say it to him instead of make broad-brush accusations?

I onced looked into geting an old FN Browning choked forr Brileys , Colomiials, tec.
and was told by several outfits that that paticular shotgun cann't because of the shape of the barrels.
Most can however....

Don't forget the Fabarms. They start around $1400, include many features that the others charge extra for, and look pretty nice. You should start seeing more of them out east this year.

Some, not all, Belgian Brownings have very little space between the barrels making installation of choke tubes difficult. Many companies won't touch them. The last time I checked Briley may do them but will want to see the gun first. Teague in the U.K. has advanced the choke tube science significantly and they can put their chokes into just about any gun. I've seen a Boss game with with very thin barrels and barrels more closely set than any Belgian Browning that had Teague chokes installed.

I'll resist wallowing in the mud..and mud slinging any further with someone who obviously enjoys it far more than I.

Have a great day.

That is always a good choice when you can't think of anything to say. You have a great day too now.

I have a Condor Supreme in 20ga which I quite like. For the amount of shooting I do, I couldn't see parking as much money in a high end O/U. I found the 12 a bit barrel heavy, but really wanted a 20 anyway. When I bought the Supreme, I looked at the Baikal - metal seemed ok, but the wood was terrible. The Condor has a really niced matched and figured forearm and stock.
Now if I could get "bottom barrel first, top barrel first" figured out, maybe I could hit something with it...

Why would anyone butcher an F/N Browning with choke tubes?
Most often because someone wants to use a fixed choke trap gun for skeet or sporting clays. Choke tubes make a gun more versatile.

It doesn't matter but I fire the bottom barrel first. The recoil impulse is lower and more straight back and the felt recoil is slightly less and I've heard that the lower barrel doesn't torque the locking mechanism as much as the top. I don't really have a choice on my main target gun because the triggers are non-selectable bottom to top.

At least that's the way I explained it to the "EX". Whoa! wait a minute maybe that's the reason she's the "EX".(and I have way to many shotguns). Seriously I don't believe in putting choke tubes in a vintage shotgun. More versitile or not my religion does not allow it.

Okay. But you and I have different definitions of "vintage." Belgian Brownings don't make the cut by a long shot. There are a ton of them out there and with few exceptions they aren't "vintage" guns.

So what makes the cut? Simson - Merkel?

What is vintage or not is up to the individual. Simson and Merkel? Nope, not for me.

Vintage territory begins with pre-WW II English best guns from the first tier makers.

Are we talking SxS or O/U?

Yes, but mr00jimbo is looking for looking for one around or under $1000. Are you going to sell him a vintage O/U for under a grand.
