Does anyone know if you can still get NOS barrels for P-17 Enfields? I've seen a few available for 1903 Springfields, just wondering if there were any 06 Enfields floating around.

Gun Parts Corp lists commercial replacements made to military dimensions for $143 plus change. Getting one involves going through all the nausea of US Govt export permits. This is a major exercise in frustration. :(I recently lost some good money on a nice Garand stock which was siezed by some no-brain "homeland security" bozo-and this is'nt a restricted part like barrels are. I've never seen a military replacement M1917 barrel in many yrs of playing with MILSURPs.

I saw them LISTED many years ago but I can certainly accept what friend purple sez because I've never SEEN one, either.

Best thing to do is look for a dealer that has a bunch of scrappers. My buddy got a replacement barrel for his Remington Model 30 by buying a P-'17 with a crushed receiver, one that had been 'demilitarised' by some lunatic government. The thing had a diamond-lapped barrel, match crown and appeared unfired. Seventy-five bucks, plus more to remove and then swap barrels.

If you check the MilArm online sale catalog (which is 35 pages), go back to about Page 29 or so. They have 60 or 70 actions listed for sale, some with barrels, some without. Prices seem to run about 75 bucks. They might have a decent one.

Just remember that a P.-'17, like its brother the P.-'14, uses Enfield rifling. It lasts five-eighths of forever, but it does prefer flat-based bullets. If you are going to want to shoot boat-tails, maybe you should try for one of the ones listed above.

Sorry I can't help farther.

Can you list some factory ammo that has flat-based bullets suitable for large game? (Sorry for the hijack)

Re: your query; I think you'll find that most of the lower-priced factory ammo uses flatbased bullets. I know the Remington and Winchester both use them in the '06. If it doesn't state "BT" on the ammo description, likely it is flat-based. Just about everyone loads their premium-grade ammo with boat-tails exclusively.
Do you handload? Ball of fun, not hard to do and you KNOW what the ammo will do.
Really like your 'location', wish I was back on The Rock again. I received my 'citizenship' many years ago, from Uncle Vic Rowe in Seldom-Come-By. Uncle Vic informed me that he hated Canadians, "because them took away my country".... and then assured me that I was "allright, boy; you're one of us now". Funny thing is, I've felt that way, at least a bit, ever since....

Have fun!

You mean like the entire East Coast fishery that Trudeau gave to his buddies in Moscow so they wouldn't have to make fertilizer?

And then the Feds gave themselves a quarter of Newfoundland's offshore oil and gas. I was actulally in the room when Joe Clark gave that share back to Newfoundland, but the Liberals won the election and just took it away again. There's enough natural gas up at Saglak Bay to run ALL of North America's energy needs for 300 years..... and it's capped. Fed sez it's theirs.

Remington Kor-lokt? Nice flatbase slugs. You can buy them in bulk packs for reloading, too. My rifles all like them.

Have fun!
