P 38 kick

I own and shoot one since two three years.
Never had a problem with the recoil...

how heavy can a 9mm recoil be?
maybe you are expecting 22lr pops.

they are nice guns, just keep in mind they are not super accurate Target pistols, just fun plinkers...

recoil P38

This gun has recoil to the point that it hurts the trigger finger like getting hit with electric shock.
I have shot several pistols 9mm 45 and 44 mag not like this one . I have noticed the trigger sticks to the rear when dry fired so maybe some thing wrong with the trigger group. Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with these pistols

I've never had that experience with my P1. I own other 9mm handguns, and my P1 is more or less like other 9mms to shoot. Obviously, the trigger shouldn't "stick" to the rear. I don't know how that's related to the shock you're feeling, but something's not right. Generally, recoil is relative to bullet weight and amount of powder used. "Plus P" loads will generate more felt recoil than "standard" loads, for the same bullet weight, and with standard loads, as you go to heavier and heavier bullets (115 gr. versus 124 gr. bullets), in most handguns you'll experience more felt recoil. It sounds like it's time to find a good pistolsmith. I've never sent a pistol for repair, but I've had other kinds of pistol work done by Barry Jensen at Bits of Pieces in BC. He does good work, and so do several others, I've been told.

P1 p38

Yes will send to a local smith to check it out, never had this happen before. I owned a P38 in Germany same type of pistol and it even shot 147gr ivi ammo ok.
Still going to buy a surplus P1 as they seem to be a well made pistol, and were issued to the German Army in the 1970s. And the Germans know weapons I would think.

P 38

Problem fixed, by gun smith.. The trigger was dragging on the trigger guard, and not going forward by the spring return after shot fired. The recoil was pushing trigger forward hitting the trigger finger with great force as in hurt. removed some of the inside of the trigger guard and a bit off toe of the trigger, and no slap to the finger by recoil .trigger guard may have been bent if dropped but not enough to notice with the eye. This pistol post war alumni m frame.
problem solved...
