I spent some time restoring a Russian Capture Mauser 98 from P&S to use as a regular shooter. The stock is battle scarred for sure but the gun cleaned-up pretty good IMO.
Most important - the bore looks great. Bright with deep rifling as I had asked from Jean. I took the f'ugly shellac off and did a tung oil finish with a bees wax rub. Looks OK - didn't go crazy on the stock restoration. Used some touch up cold bluing to get rid of the electropenciling and took the Russian blue off where it shouldn't be.
Picked up a few goodies from Landser - repro strap, cleaning rod, sight hood, capture screws, etc and she is good to go. Hopefully I can print off some nice targets and make a range report soon.
Nice eagle and Swastikas on this gun.
German military ammunition - 1944 steel cased on German stripper clip.
