I was just at P&D this afternoon and they have the HK P2000 in both 9mm and .40. It's got a nice slim handle and the slide is quite compact.

But:

1: the barrel really sticks out quite a bit, unlike the P99 or P229, to the point where it's unsightly. If it were threaded....now that's another story.
2: It's the V3 model. Standard DA/SA with decocker. SA trigger is quite nice but DA is heavy but smooth. I was hoping for the LEM at around 5.5 lbs.

Just like Canada to ruin a good gun.
If you don't mind that, they're ready to be bought!!

We carry P2000 in 9mm at my working place, and we have the pleasure to get the LEM on it, sweet shooter with that system, I dont like and can get use to TDA. Hey! I am more a revolver guy then semi. Single action is the top in a 1911, but let me tell you that the lem is excellent. I owned 2 Sig with DAK, that are really good, but the LEM is just lighter and easier to get used too. IMHO.

Until HK will sell there LEM to civy , I wont buy one. Since I am not the decider at work for the firearm to be carried, I had no other choice then the one they lend us for work, and I wont complain. Oh! forgot to tell you , but QPP authorized my cie to buy 12.6 P2000 with the short barrel.

You can get a USP with LEM.

What were they asking for them? Are the barrel FACTORY HK or aftermarket?

Factory barrel right from HK, and they fit in the hand like a DREAM. Before people go and write this one off just because of the frickin barrel (come on now!!!!) they might actually shoot better with that nub on the end! There is not a lot of chance to get one of these pistols normally..... and they are very well done. They're priced at $1050. They all have three back straps to swap out with, two mags and.......well, I like them but it's something you gotta hold for yourself. Just my two bits.

Or you can just wait until P30L becomes available. It's essentially a P2000 with interchangeable grip panels (not just back straps), picatiny rail, and a 4.4" standard length barrel.

That's a BIG gun. The charm of the P2000 is that it's a nice compact gun. Of all the restrictive gun laws Canada has, the barrel length one is one of the worst. (Magazine capacity is about tied). Thinking philosophically I guess having a restricted barrel at least allows us to get the gun. Those of us who live in the US part time can always order a spare barrel when using down south.

I was really looking forward to the P2000, Some guns like the P99 and sig P229 have barrels that stick out 'just a bit'. The P2000 passes the 'tolerable point' for me I guess.

I also wanted LEM. I used to like DA/SA but now I stick to SA only (1911, P99(it can be set for SA carry), and P7) due to the fact I shoot better with them. For now I'll stick with my HK P7M8.

Does anybody have a line on what these Canadianized P2000 look like yet? I see that the pistols went up on the P&D website today. Unfortunately that is not a "pic heavy" site. I believe the "stick out factor" will be a bit less than my modified (106mm) P22:

I can tell you that, whatever you think of the looks, this gun is 10 times better than with the 5 inch barrel and the fake compensator on it. And anyone that has shot both will agree.

Since we've been talking about this P2000 thing for so long, I actually did the 30 second Photoshop to try and see what it would look like for myself. Already posted before but.... is that about what the ones in Edmonton look like? Or is it worse :runaway:

If that's what they look like, I'm going to be all over one like a fat kid on cake.

Seriously.

What you could always do is get it threaded, period. I'm actually planning on doing this right now... putting thought into it as we speak. ;)

I did a little bit of research: it's missing 13mm to comply with canadian law. That's really not that much, and if you thread it, I don't see how it could be any more unsightly (if you think so) than the USP45 CT.

I can't wait to see actual pictures.
