I see that the Sig custom shop offers the E2 grip conversion for 100 bucks or so. http://sigsauer.com/upFiles/CmsContent/documents/CUSTOMSHOP_pricelist_09-11.pdf

I'd prefer not to send my pistol away to Sig for an unknown amount of time, and swapping the parts required is no more complicated than a detail strip, which I can just about do with my eyes closed... (I'm aware that doing any work on the pistol myself voids the warranty, I don't care).

I've checked all the suppliers I can think of, inculding in the US, and all I can find are the conversion kits for the 226 and 229.

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on one?

I have swapped my rosewood grip panels for the black polymer ones, and it has helped a bit with the size of the grip, but the mag release is still just out of reach. If the difference between the legacy 226 and E2 226 is any indication, the E2 conversion would take the fit from "pretty good" to "a-freakin-mazing".

Thanks,

DC

Pilot, I don't think the E2 grip option is available for the P220. I have never seen it offered.
if you find it, please post the info. P220 is a nice pistol.

I did a search and on one of the Sig forums, it has been discussed that the only way right now is by sending it in to Sig for conversion. If this forum is correct, there is no Sig 220 E2 kit for sale to the public right now at the time of that thread (month ago)... Maybe it is in the works. If anyone finds a kit for sale, please post it.

There is no shame in having to turn the pistol to reach the mag release, what if you get the E2 and it still doesn't work for you? The trigger reach is the most important.

Agree that trigger reach is the most important. The smaller/more comfortable grip would be worth investigating. For 100 bucks I'd be temped if it didn't mean sending my pistol away for god-knows how long. If it ended up not being any better for me, it might still work for someone else, and I could likely find a buyer and cut my loses down to the 20-30 dollar range.

I still have to do a "slight" rotation to reach the mag release on my 226 with E2's....really not a big deal. I'm pretty confident now that even in a SHTF situation I could do it without losing my target.

That said...the HK is just so much faster, tiny finger drop..mag's out and I'm back in business.

I agree, love my HK USP 40 :D

Beware, the grip is about as large as the 226/220 and less ergonomic. But it feels great in my hands.

I'm supposed to be shooting TransAm1991's new Sig 220 SS Elite with Rosewood Grips tomorrow, I'll see how it stacks up against my German 220.

Approximate size differences are on this Sig Sauer advert (226, should be similar to 220) From 2 to 5mm at different spots around the grip it seems. "Short Trigger" is also available too.

I like the Rosewood grips better than the polymer, feel better and fit my hand better. I'll try to buy a pair online/EE if I can find them. Might be a 1 or 2mm difference in thickness, but they fit me well and look fantastic to boot. All controls were accessible to me with the thicker grips, actually felt better.
