Well I did get my opportunity to get to southern Alberta and try out my Natinose Paco'd rimfire ammo. I have my BRNO 2E sighted in at 2 inches high at 50 meters, which I thought would be alright for general field work, just incase I had to shoot at some long ones. Wow what a great time, I hadn't shot at a gopher since I was a kid and I shoot way better now.
Them Nastinose rounds proved to be as lethal as advertised, and provided a loud thump when they made solid contact. I inspected several of my victims and found a nice round entrance wound and a big round lump on the other side. I neglected to open them up to see how the bullet sized after impact, something I wanted to do, but got too caught up in the excitement of it all.
Shot distances varied with my longest at 94 yards which I was impressed with.
This being my first shooting at gophers and not my last so I'm not sure if a 94 yard shot is all that big a deal.
I did shoot some with Regular non modified American Eagle 38 grain and they too worked just fine, but didn't make that loud thump on impact the way the altered rounds did
The fellow I was shooting with was using reg Rem .22 ammo and when we compared the gophers that were head shot, it looked like mine were shot with Hornets or 22 mag, significantly more damage.
Well there it is, now I must get busy and make a bunch more as I hope to out again in the near future.FS
