Need a second opinion on a CC SA20 upper receiver I have. There seems to be an extra slot in the Pic rail (14 total), some material removed where the charging handle meets the upper, different lettering in the rail slots, and a chamfer at the very front of the rail.

Personally, I like the modifications, but what type of CC upper is this? Def not a standard SA upper.

It came directly from them as a warranty replacement. Just curious as to what type of upper this is, or what rifle it's supposed to go with. Will prob give them a call on Monday.

Just a cosmetic thing, the original one had a scratch on it. Still looking for info if anyone has it.

That area where you said they removed a bit of material....appears to be the same thing on the IURs....

that's one of their standard uppers they do for the MIL and LE guns. for the civ guns they likely had a slightly different spec upper. much like they used 6 position RE's vs std MIL-spec 4 position RE's.

Makes sense. I guess since the SA rifles were a limited run, they had to replace the upper with one of these.

This looks like the CDN mil spec, instead of the M4 spec.

Looks like a real C7/C8 replacement upper. The rail is taller and the dimension of the slots are slightly narrower.

Unfortunately, it's not my rifle/upper to trade. I'm just babysitting it for a friend.

Yes they do, though I thought the MIL ones didn't have the M4 feedramps for some reason. The SA rifles also have "M4" marked on the front of the receiver above the gas tube.

I'm not sure how lucky I would consider it. Nothing wrong with them but if the rail is to Weaver spec then a lot of mounts won't fit without modification. Taller rail could make selection of BUIS a challenge as well. Still, if any of these are issues he could certainly sell it to Diemaco collectors for a handsome sum.
