Here's the Stevens 200 in 7mm-08.

Navy Blue with silver webbing. This is getting to be really fun!

..........and it also shoots under an inch with no load development.

That's 3 for 3 for the Stevens 200 bolt guns, all shooting under an inch. :D

Wow. You guys are skilled. I do not have a shred of artistic capability...I'd be concerned about trying to get a single good coat on, let alone a camo pattern!

Need another one!

Reminds me that I need another SKS stock to finish my project. The first one was destroyed beyond repair by a mishandled fingerjoint shaper
The rear part is ok. Once finished, I'll try it with a SKS action and have one of my friends take a latex mold from it. We'll try to make a foam-filled fiberglass stock.
My friend is out to Halifax until June, it gives me plenty of time to try my stock.

hope you plan on using that in the winter when theres snow! Right now here in S. Ontario that would stick out like a sore thumb. Its raining and no sign of snow. I never had the urge to turn one of my rifles into a beauty queen....they shoot and thats all I care about. If the animal is close enough to see it ....he's gonna be dead soon!

We have enough snow...would like to see more for sledding...so its a good look for predator hunting in northen Alberta. I agree with you that if the game is that close...they'll be dead. But it's nice to have a project rifle, or as you say ...beauty queen.

Now MP, listen to Salty and heed his sage advise and buy that beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Afterwards, let us know how it shoots and how many predators you laid low with it :D ...KF

Hi guys,

This is my first attempt on my Savage .308cal.

Used that Krylon you guys talk about and looks ok. Couldn't talk myself into painting the barrel and action, but for the scope, no problems as it is not new so..:)

What do you put on top of it for protection? Krylon flat clear coat?

Now, I will do my shotgun ... :D

Thanks to all that provided the info and that was just enough for me to try it..:)

BC Bigbore, the rifle is at a gunsmiths as we speak. The person shot maybe 60 rounds thru it, avg. under 1/2 groups. The owner wanted more black in the lines, so he traded it off (he hated to do it), and is getting another one done up as we speak. This rifle is a T3 SS 22-250 with a fluted barrel, Dura-coat paint, and a Zeiss 3.5x10x44 Scope.

I very tempted, but waiting to hear about the Fluid Image Technology - dip job. I may get this same rifle (new) sent out with a Leupold VX3 scope I have, and get the whole pkg. camo dipped in Realtree Winter Hardwoods. Just waiting to find how to ship a rifle to the USA...export/import permits, or I may get a fellow I guided for a few years in the past that comes up every year to get the rifle done, have him bring it up and then me buy it from him. I think this process may have less hassle / paperwork with.

Either way, I will have a sweet winter predator rifle. I have been going out the last few weekends, shooting a buddy's T3 Varmint HB SS 22-250. Been seeing alot of wolves in the farmland this year, and we are starting to have cows calving. Coyote calling has been slow. But at least this breaks up the lull in the hunting seasons.

Dean, you gotta get a bit north of Brampton:D
On the weekend on Scugog Island, there were still 3 foot snowdrifts on the edge of the fields. Some ground showing through, but for the most part, it was still white.
There was still allmost 2ft in the bush up at the cottage 2 weekends ago.

Ok, what about your 22 I painted?:D

The .22 POS (peice of ####) Remington Viper was in need of something to make it somewhat interesting other than jamming. I figure the $15 bucks in paint you blew on it made it worth .....lets say....ah ....$15 bucks. That rifle groups a wicked 3' @ 100 yards...wow....quality eh.

My comment about snow was just to make a point about the limited application by painting winter camo.
