Painting a camo rifle

Hi,
I'm new to the site, and I thought some of you may like to see how we created my new rifle. I wanted it to look like a sniper rifle so we did a camo paint job on it. OK, it's only a 10/22! I'm a rookie...we have to start small :)
After buying the receiver my friend did an awesome job of adding the wooden stock etc. and getting it all up together. We mounted a Simmons 3-9x50 scope and got to work on the paint. To start, we spray painted it with black textured paint, then placed grass and ferns over the top and sprayed other camo colour layers over the top. You can see the finished result (and the cake we bought to celebrate!) It looks great, and the fern and pine branches turned out best. Parts of the scope look as if they are caught in moonlight! The only thing I have found is that the black textured paint has taken over two weeks to dry, and on a recent gopher hunting trip, I had black sticky fingers every day!

Dude, what kind of paint did you use? Krylon works great for the amature an drys in 15 min. Duracoat is by far the best and most durable firearm finish on the market.

Thanks. We did actually use Krylon textured paint but I'm thinking we didn't give it enough time to dry. Oh...and I'm not a dude! The dude in the picture is my buddy! :)

LOL. Yes, welcome Non-Dude!

We will have to paint that thing again.... And maybe your scooter too!

What a cool idea! I never thought of painting my scooter camo! Then it will match the rifle when I ride it to the range!! That would be AWESOME! Let's do it dude!

and nice job on the paint!!! looks good!!

Yes...and see the chocolate ammo on the cake...? They are from a chocolate weapons company in the US where you can buy a life size chocolate glock too! It weighs and feels the same as the real thing! Sorry you couldn't have tasted the cake...but you have the picture to look at!
