I sent mine 2 weeks ago but still doesn't show as "received". It's like I'm not in the system yet. Does it takes 28 days to show as received? Didn't receive a phone call and they didn't take the money on my credit card yet. Hope the application form didn't get lost in the mail.
Mine showed in the system about a week after they received it, then nothing happened for 28 days as the "cool off" period passed, then on day 29, it was approved.

Follow up with your references. It was taking my application a while so finally I asked my references if theyve been contacted and they both said "ooh ya, I have to call them back, I missed the call". As soon as both of my references called my application was approved that same day.

The wait is absolutely killer, I feel like a kid at Christmas time. Still no call to either myself or to my references... no idea what that means.

None of my references have been called so far. I am kind of afraid it's gonna take forever because I lost my job in the last 2 years, a question that I assume automatically flaged my demand because it was asked alongside with the criminal history and mental breakdowns ones....

I'm having a lot of trouble getting my PAL/RPAL. I took the CFSC/CRFSC back in June 09 and sent in my application in August. I didn't hear a word until September. I had to have an interview with a Firearms Officer that was pretty straightforward but since then I haven't been contacted to tell me if I was denied or accepted.
I call the CFC every week to find out what's going on but they either give me a number to call where no one ever picks up or tell me they'll call me back but never do. It's been 8 months since I applied, what could possibly be taking so long? I wasn't officially denied yet but I haven't been accepted yet. What's going on? Has anyone else experienced something like this? I'm not sure what I can do since the CFC seems to be ignoring me. What are my options?

That is terrible, 8 months is completely ridiculous.. are you sure everything was filled out properly? I took a photocopy of my application before I sent it off just in case. I would be calling these people twice a day, let alone every week. When they give you another number to call, try letting them know calmly but firmly that you have tried the number many times and are being ignored.
Ask them to follow up on your behalf and track down your application... make sure you are polite! Remember that the standard protocol for most govt employees is to pass the buck and avoid any work that doesn't fall strictly within their job description.. you will have to smooth talk your way into someone going the extra mile to follow up for you. Even though I expect only a mediocre effort and work ethic from most civil servants, I would still be surprised if you couldn't get someone to look into this after telling them you have been waiting for over a half a year. Assuming your history is good and you have no criminal record, I cannot imagine why in the world it would be taking this long for you.
