PAL "in progress"

Have your references been called yet? If not then give your CFO a call. I called in along with my friends and the very next morning all our licenses were approved.

Yeah that's the plan, are they open on the weekend? My references haven't been called yet, they are just my parents, and if they do the whole 20 questions dealy with them it should be just a matter of handing the phone over to the next person, or so I've read.

With me my references weren't called. I just called the CFO and the lady said she would email the officer handling my license to call me the next day to talk to me (4pm). By 8am the next morning the tracking website said my license was approved and I should get it within two weeks in the mail.
 
PAL renewal

Sent my renewal app. in about Dec. 1st....website just before Xmas advised renewal processed and to expect receipt in about 2 weeks...checked early this week and now they say they received the appl on Dec.29....NOT....and it was "in progress"....called them about the discrepancy and they confirmed they received the appl on Dec. 29th....checked yesterday and it again says it is approved and to expect it in about 2 weeks.....by monthend if no license in the mail I will contact my Conservative MP....something fishy here...
 
I sent my application they received it dec. 15 still waiting.... Already bought a Kimber Gold Match. Can't wait to get my permit. Is there still a 28 day waiting period after I get my permit?
 
I'm told there is no additional waiting period once you receive your PAL.

Do they usually mail it the day it's approved? I sent it in on a Monday, and it was officially received that Friday. Hopefully it's that quick coming back.
 
No, you have to wait 28 days no matter what, once they get your application, then you have to wait for the CFO to do a police background check on you, call your references etc, and if all goes well, you will get your PAL approved then it will take up to 2 weeks to get it in your hands from the post office from the time they mailed it.
 
When they say a typical application take 45 days to complete, is that 45 business days or just calendar days?

That isn't a set date like the clearing of a check, that is an average amount of days. It can take anywhere from 28 days to 70 days from what the CFO and CFC told me (not including the 2 weeks after it's accepted which accounts for the license being printed and then mailed out).

It can take longer then 70 days. it all depends if you were a good boy all your life and they dont see any red flags when they do a background check on you ;)

But no, weekends dont count. And no matter who you are they wont touch your application for 28 days. So go out and do stuff for month then start checking the cfc online site in regards to your status.

Word of advice though. Just forget about it for a while, I know it is hard. But it will really get to you if your always thinking about "meaning it will feel A LOT longer :)"

What I meant is that the CFO should contact you within 70 days if there is a problem with your application. At least that's what they told me.

There is nothing in either legislation or regulation that states that there is a 28 day wait.

They are just slow. It also helps to send your app by courier (confirmation of receipt) and call to check on the status.
 
So called to see what was up today, got forwarded immediately, got interviewed, got extension for references to call, called the extension when references came home, handed phone to my references, done on the 46th day, now I wait for mail.
