PAL Wait Time

I live in Port Hardy BC. Takes me 5 mins to walk across town and I'm off work with an injury.
But ya Im eager. Already spent a fortune on reloading gear and have made 50 rounds for barrel break in and scope sighting in.
I have another 50 pieces of brass prepped and primed, probably finish them today. Just leave them long and finetune them when I get my rifle.

Sorry I didn't mean to sound snarky! I don't know how it is there, but here the mail only shows up once, so usually by 9:30 or 10am the mail has come for the day and what ever came is all that I'm going to get!

I'm eager too.. Mine was only approved on April 23rd so I have a while to go. I think you're going to be waiting a minimum of a month, so maybe in the next two weeks you can start to get excited for it to come. Maybe in two more weeks it'll finally be printed and then a few days for it to make its way through the mail system.

My problem is I don't have a card and lacking funds to get most things. I have enough to drop on a Glock, but then I'm still SOL for any kind of bulk ammo purchase, ear protection, etc. I also have a Henry .22 I'm getting but I'd really like to get an inexpensive scope for it but that's more money lol. So much free time to go to the range due to being out of work but no money to buy all the stuff I need :p

I didn't take it as snarky! No worries
I called back today and got my PAL number from them.
This lady said it might be 6-8 weeks before my card is printed.
But hopefully sooner she said.
That's brutal. Goodbye spring bear season.

Whew okay good :)

6-8 weeks?!? When was your license issued?

Feb 21 - CFSC

March 10th - Received course results

March 16 - Application mailed

March 22nd Received in NBi

April 2 - Online shows completed initial processing

April 29th - License issued status online

No references contacted , waiting to receive in the mail.

I was given the name of the RCMP officer assigned to my application but there is no good way to contact them directly. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have time booked off work for Turkey in two weeks and I'm really hoping to not have to borrow a shotgun from a buddy. My App has been processing since Feb 26 as per my previous post and it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere.

Get in touch with your local MP & have them look into it. However, even if your lic was "issued" today, you'll be waiting 4-6 weeks for it to be printed & mailed out due to their current printer issues.

Sorry, she did go into my file to confirm that it was approved and processed. But when she came back and I started asking where I was in the backlog line, she wouldn't go back and look. Would only tell give me a general response.

I spoke with someone in Miramachi that said it was in the printer queue and seeing that she wasn't IT I let it drop there. She did give me the PAL details but you can only buy a firearm with it but not possess it until you have the card according to Cabellas and the person in Miramachi.

Did my CFSC late fall 2018, submitted early November. Photo sent back cause I forgot to sign back of it. Returned registered mail, and they received it 12/7/18. Been waiting ever since. Call every couple weeks and get same answer...Call back in another couple weeks, as it's waiting for BC CFO approval. I've always been kind and courteous to whomever I spoke to. Already have my Mossberg 590A1 bought and paid for at my local outfitting store, but can't pick it up...
Gov't not in any hurry to approve PAL's I'm sure, so all I can do is wait...and wait....and wait

That’s rough, I know my brother renewed his license a few months ago and when he called (after taking a long time) they said their card machine was broken. Seemed like a BS excuse to me (to say that the RCMP only has 1 machine with no spares)

One thing you might want to try is to have one of your references call in (give them a story about how they’re planning on going on vacation and that they might miss a call if they tried, so theyd like to do an interview now) might expedite things while they have your “folder open” to check off the interview box.

Mine was issued on March 27th but when I called last week they said mid may due to printing issues.

Edited: My mistake, sent mine in online on the 27th, issued on the 5th.

What is the average wait time now for printed card? 4 weeks?
Are the cards done in 1 location or in each province?

I was told there is at least a month backlog when I called on wednesday and to expect 6-8 weeks with delivery.
As far as I know 1 location. 2 machines 1 isnt working properly. It's been around a month now, you think they would fix it. Especially with a backlog that big. Government doesn't want us to have guns.

I’ve wondered the same thing. I could see something being “down” for a week (if parts needed to be ordered... but over a month? They’re in no hurry to help us get guns. There is no logical reason why the printer hasn’t been fixed yet.... except for them stalling and slow our process of obtaining firearms down. I’m not a conspiracy theorist... but comeon.

At my old job one of my duties was printing ID cards and at times the machine would act up. It was sent in for service and that helped a bit but it wasn’t long before it was asking up again. After speaking with the owner of the business he wasn’t too eager to replace it with a new one because the program was basically a money loser for them so justifying it was difficult.

Given that we only pay $60 or $80 for our license, they probably don’t make much if anything, so their budget probably doesn’t include a replacement printer. That’s the only reason I can think why something hasn’t been done by now.
