PAL Wait Time

They received my application in February of 2019. Now its April 2020 and still nothing. I've called and they tell me to call back in 4 weeks. This has been going on 14 months. I'm in Alberta

Hey everyone, I posted a few weeks ago regarding my long wait time for my license. I gave up hope on it, stopped checking their application status website, and didnt think about it much.

Today I got home from work, and decided to check their website again, because why not, right? My license was approved! Super super happy, it's been a two year wait for me, here in BC. No phone calls to me or my references.

Don’t get your hopes up. They may be processing applications but they aren’t sending out licenses. Mines been “approved and issued” for a month now.

I'm just happy to see a change on the status of my application. I've got other priorities for my disposable income at the moment anyways.

Just checked back in today and my renewal looks like it went through.. Sweet! I'm sure it'll be a while before I get the card but as long as the number is valid that's all that really matters.

Application Received on: 2020-04-02

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

really ? Quebec CFO told me they don't work . why you still get your Card ?

I started back to work today. Maybe the CFO did as well!? Lol. The site still says they aren't printing cards. I'm sure that's just an automated message when approved. But then who knows. It's always a guessing game with this stuff. Everyone's experiences are different.

Finally the phones are back on. Had my reference call in and he said everything went well during my interview. What's the next step they need to do I'm hoping to have it processed quick. But with all this covid stuff going on I'm not counting on it

Application received Feb 25th
Charged March 20th
Reference done April 21st

They still have the same msg where they arent processing or printing. But seems like they have gone back at it, if not fully. Have you tried calling them get your PAL #?

PAL/RPAL application/first timeno checked boxes/ clean history

Good news for the miserables stuck in Quebec: I called the Quebec CFO (Ext 7005) this Wednesday 10 times before I got a hold of someone at 3:35 pm, he pulled my file and went straight to interview me, he mentioned that he will be calling my references soon, I suggested they can call in, he then told me to get them to call him before 4pm, I managed to get my references call him 10 minutes before the deadline and told the last one all is good.

This one was my first time calling the QC CFO, I decided to wait a while before calling them since they record how many times you call.I checked today online and the application still shows in process on the RCMP website.

My brief timeline:

-19 December 2019: registered mail Application received in Miramichi.
- 6 January 2020: Credit card charged and appears online.
-16 January 2020: I receive an envelope from RCMP mentioning I need to do an in person filing for RPAL (QC thing), did it and mailed it registered same day.
-20 January 2020: In person QC RPAL application received in Miramichi
-22 April 2020: I called RCMP to inquire about the status, informed me its with the QC CFO
-22 April 2020: Called QC CFO and my application was completed.

Now I will wait for it to be processed by the RCMP and issue a PAL number.

Yes I called and got my number and expiry. The lady said they are still doing applications but printings been put on hold so who knows how long until I get my actual card.

Good news here! My R/PAL has been completed. I wasn't expecting it to get processed after reading the previous post over the last two weeks or so.
