PAL Wait Time

Does anyone know if the place of birth section on the RCMP firearms license applicant page is case sensitive?

Trying to track my progress but they still don't have any information on my application or I'm somehow entering the wrong info. I figured they would have record by now since they charged my credit card.

It is not case sensitive for me. Can take a week or a few to get into the system once your card is charged.

I suppose I should pitch in here for more context for people as well:

Location: Ontario
Purpose: PAL/RPAL Application

Application Sent: 02/24/2020
Application Received by Miramichi: 02/26/2020 (Sent via xpresspost)
Credit Card Charged: 05/29/2020
Application Status Change -> Initial Processing Completed: 06/01/2020
Application Status Change -> Application Processed, License Issued: 06/14/2020 (Per physical Licence letter)
Physical License Received: 07/20/2020

No references called. No calls were made to the RCMP regarding my application. I was unable to check the status of my license until approximately 05/29/2020.

Damn - 5 months sucks.. but it's better than 1+ years people have been speaking of on here.. Consider yourself lucky. I had application received around the beginning of July 2019 - processed mid July then issued around the end of July - received physical card first week of August. No boxes checked - harassed the Miramichi office a couple times a week once it was received and then called the Ontario CFO once a week after that to check in.

if you read the previous pages you would see a guy has been waiting for over a year (18 months as I remembered). I am the one who Mailed in 19-Dec-19 and cc charged on Jan 8, 20. My background check is with Peels Police right now, I have the number also extension but believe it or not I called many times and always go to voicemail, I left message with my cell number and never gotten a call from them.

I have talked to a friend this morning and he told me I would wait forever with Peel Police for backgroumd check.

Any update on your application?

I called the Ontario CFO to get an update on my application. The representative told me he would transfer me to the department that was processing my application.. which went to voicemail for Peel Police. It appears I am in the same situation as you.

Hey, Just have time to sit on the office today. On that day when i replied on here I think it was 20 July. After that about 1:30pm I got a called from CFOO I had a quick interviewed with him and he approved me over the phone. After 1 hour I checked online my application is approved and a card is issued. Now I have to wait for a physical card on the mail.

i have no box checked in my application. He did not call my references but he called my wife.

I dont know what number you called to Peel Police but the extension they gave me is to voicemail also but there is another extension 4309 (also went to voice mail but I left message regards on my background check for firearms also mentioned that CFOO gave me his number) I think that the guy who called me. But the waiting for him to call back was about 2 weeks.

Just curious. For those that did the interview. What are the questions you are asked?

well he just asked that I have been in shooting range, and do I do hunting. He also asked if my wife know that I applied for fireamrs. but first he would ask for your information. you should have your application number with you all the times.

Thanks for the info.

I called the CFO office again today, the representative who answered today was much more helpful than my first call. Went over my application, they seemed to have one missing piece of information. She said she updated it and would try to run my check again today. It seemed like if there were no red flags (which there aren't) that they would process it without sending it off to Peel Police for further background check.

Hopefully this gets thing moving for me.

She also mentioned offices are picking up their capacity and starting to catch up on backlog.
