PAL Wait Time

Thank you. I just called them, and they said its with the CFO and they havent worked the file yet. She said all i can do is wait. :(

If its with your cfo, contact them and ask if they need anymore info from you. I did that, first lady I talked to said they had it but it would take awhile. I called back 2 days later and got a different lady and she approved it over the phone.

Don't just wait...call and ask if you can help.

I called and was told it was with the CFO and if not issued by December to call back. Any experiences with wait time on CFO or is it pretty quick from that point on?

I sent in all my paperwork in late March and after having my credit card charged with no change of status online I began to check my status through the phone line. I called about once every week or two and would be told that my info is being processed and there is no more they can tell me. One day I asked to be put through to the chief firearms office to see if their might be a problem and once I got there a nice officer found my file and approved it while on the phone with me, got my card the next week. Mind you this is after a bout a month and a half of no change in status but being charged and regular calls. I’d say to be wary of taking up too much time and calling too frequently but if there seems to be something off about how long things are taking than it could be worth trying to dig deeper. For me from completing my course to getting the physical card in the mail was about 6.5 months

This is too long even in covid times. The RCMP saying 4 month back log is unreasonable. when I first got approved for my PAL it took all of 28days from them getting my application to approval. (another few days for the card in mail) Before covid the standard of service was about 45 days, covid should not have changed that by much. 4 months is easy double what is reasonable. For me I am expecting to be out of town until end of December so I have time but it is about it being reasonable.

Got notice a couple days later I filled in one part wrong via email, immediately called them and corrected it otherwise I could’ve checked online the application status..

No references were called for RPAL, had card in hand October 13th

PAL
Received my application August 31st.
No news since then. CC not charged yet afaik.
Anyone knows what it says for the charge on the CC so I can search for it ?

Really depends on your history. As far as i see if you are clean then it doesnt even go to CFO. By the fact it is with CFO now is there is something they want to look at more closely. For me, it took 19 months. But i am sure that the COVID stuff added 6 months.
I would call them every 30-60 days - do not call every week as i have heard that can be a red flag. Once i passed the 12 month mark i called every month.

But do call them. If i did not call on Oct 29 i would probably still be waiting. Depends on the call taker too. Person i spoke to was great. Put me on hold to look over file. Came back to say she will pass on to manager. A few hours later RCMP called. Short interview and i was approved.

anyone know if they print and mail daily? I am hoping the card arrives this week. Today is day 7 since approval. The wait for the card is more torturous than waiting for approval.

This is pretty accurate info, I might’ve been flagged for repeatedly calling every week once my status was online. My friends application was oct 20th it came online and his is approved. I’ve managed to get to the CFO Office extension 9530 for anyone trying to contact the BC one. She did a background check said it looks good and then sent it off to the CFO she said. Also saying that there’s a big pile so it might take awhile. So from OCT 13th until now. I have a clean record just traffic violations. My friend also has a clean record and they sent his right through. They’re must be something I’m unaware of or they may just want to talk to me and ask a few questions. I will keep updating as I know a lot of people are waiting and are most likely eager to go to the range. Thank you everyone for the quick responses and the good information. Calling helps but I can see it getting flagged.

Me too, BC applicant, approved on Oct 29. From monitoring the posting on this site, it is about 10 - 12 days after approval. If we are lucky, it'll be sooner. If you are in a hurry, you can call and ask for your #, so you can start your shopping.

Youre from oct 29 whe they recieved it?

if i may jump in here. Pretty sure WWK is saying that the license was approved and issued on October 29 (as was mine)
We are now waiting for the actual physical card to arrive in the mail. (and as i stated this wait is more painful than the wait for approval)

I see, i heard something about they printing cards on Thursday and mailing on Friday, its all up to the snail mail after that point

please post when you get your card in the mail. i will do same. Was in summer 2019 when they were have the printer issues? people that were issued waited months to get card in mail. that would be major suckage.
