Regular PAL

I called once 9 months ago, transferred me to the CFO
they said it was in the final stages….9 months later approved.

Took 1 year to find a course in English, then one year to get approved

wow, that's why I love Quebecois, speaking a language I cannot understand and still consider them as Canadians while constantly toying the ideas of being independent for the sake of getting more more money. :)
 
Updates for timelines:

PAL application received Dec. 6, CC charged Jan 18, sent to CFO around the end of March. Still in "completed initial review" on online portal. No references contacted yet.

Unable to get through the hotline, even if it doesn't hang up because the queue is full it'll suddenly hang up between 5 and 10 minutes on hold for no reason (this is calling the CFO extension).

I've reached out to my MP to look into this for me, it's pretty silly to have taken this long.

I am hoping to successfully complete the CFSC and CRFSC courses at the end of June. Is it better (faster) for me to send in my RPAL application without the course results and send them afterwards, or should I wait for the course results and send the results in with the RPAL application?

I would suggest to send them together. If for some strange reason they look at your application, and it is not complete with those results, you can expect your application to find the bottom of the IDGAF file. Just my opinion.

Sent the application form on April 14th

Still NOTHING!

Not even an update of any kind. Nothing is showing up when i log into the rcmp site.

They did no cash the check either.

Wtf is going on? And now there is a new ban on restricted. Im screwed. All this for nothing. Is it possible that they decided to stop processing new applications?

And even if they process mine, by the time they send everything to the cfo, which take another 4-8 months i'll still be screwed.

Has anyone sent their application in April and got their application form updated or credit card charged?
 
Are you kidding me? People have been waiting for more than 4 months before the credit card is charged.
Your case is only less than 2 months.

Credit card charged means nothing…
Mine got charged within 30 days and still waited 1 year for my approval.
 
I'll add my experience for some current time reference.

In BC, Upgraded pal to rPAL. Did course in 2021 but didn't get around to sending application in until this year

Application received Feb 14
Appeared online and CC charged end of April
Approved and issued June 6
Waiting on mail now

No references called, no red flags in application.


Kicking myself for waiting tho given recent events.
 
Hello all! I'm new to the forum and thought I'd poke my head out and say hello. In late April I took the CFSC and CRFSC and mailed in the application May 2 by regular post. In hindsight, I should have sent it with a tracking option, as now I obviously have no idea if the application was even delivered. Anyway, how is everyone checking if their applications were received? I assume this is the site everyone is using, correct? https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firearms/individual-web-services

I still get the following message, though I suppose this shouldn't be a surprise given what I'm reading about other's experiences. " Error. We do not have any information that matches this data. If the data is correct please check your application status again at a later date."
 
Anyone who sent their application in April or May has been getting absolutely boned.

I sent mine in April 4th via regular lettermail and nothing has appeared online yet. When calling the hotline the agent answering will not give me any precise info other than that they are experiencing a backlog.

Unfortunately we have to face the fact that our civil servants working for the RCMP in Miramichi are quite possibly the laziest people on the planet. Liberal politicians hate firearm owners and the government has absolutely zero incentive to make the application process any less painful, frustrating and convoluted than it is now.

If the authorities overseeing this program gave a single damn, the government would have assigned more staff to complete applications and streamlined the process years ago. Our overpaid CFOs shouldn't be given a dime until the backlog is within the 90 day maximum quoted on the RCMP website.

The moment my application shows up online I will be calling my MP every week until it is processed. The people at the call center are useless.
 
Update for my daughter's minor application:
Sent in the form on 01-30
Received on 02-03
CC charged on 05-13, and then online status shows up with "initial review completed".
06-13 shows "license issued..."

now waiting for mail.

As of june 13 (today). Still nothing.. no update in my account.. no credit card, no cashed check, nothing. It's like they never received my form.
So nearly 3 months and nothing. I would excpect atleast something like we are reviewing the initial step or something but nop.

Is it possible my envelope disappeared in the process?
 
So what is the renewal process like? I've yet to have my first one. Is it the same application as the first original or a different process?

That long of a wait with no information is the norm based on other posts in this thread.

I sent mine in early April and nothing yet either.
 
Finally!!!!!!! Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number (1-800-731-4000).

received Jan 10th
CC charge March 2nd
was stuck for a photo scan for 3months
Received by CFO on June 8th
PAL approved June 14th!!!
