Just got issued mine today.
Took PAL course on 17/05/23
Took RPAL course on 24/05/23
Applied electronically on 24/05/23
Payment made and references confirmed on 25/05/23
Licence approved and mailed on 22/06/23
29 days total from application to being approved.
No additional calls or emails needed, no boxes checked.
Located in Alberta.

each province seems to have different wait times , i applied back in april online, still no answer yet , located in nb , no boxes checked
So I talked to my chief firearms officer assigned to my file her name is Nadine teeft. I am sad to say I may not be getting my pal/rpal as I checked yes to the first 2 boxes of my personal history I feel like the racism is real and she doesn’t want to approve it and she did say my application needs further review. I have tried calling the cfo they sent it to my officer and she emailed me saying I should stop contacting the cfo that the wait times will increase the more I call which doesn’t make any sense. Should I call my mp cause it’s been more than a year. And I’m wondering how long will it take to get it since I’m under further review and it’s been a year plus of waiting
Impressive! I'm also in Alberta, I took my RPAL course first week of June 2022, had the application in the following week. RCMP charged my CC late August 2022. Crickets until I contacted the AB CFO in April 2023, they replied after a few weeks, license issued then received by late May. Nearly a full year for me, and less than a month for you lol.
They never even called my references as far as I know, I guess I should have started poking the CFO earlier...

Yeah my references were never contacted either, just the standard GC key portal they had to do.
I was shocked myself how quick it came through, still waiting for the physical card to arrive as of today.
Our instructors did urge us to apply online as opposed to mail-in and to call often for updates if we weren't hearing any new information.
How long it took you to get an email reply from them?
Other Quebec guy took him 4 months and that was after he pointed out by emailing them. It took them 8 days to respond to email.
I sent them an email yesterday. They definitely do read your email within a day. Hopefully I get a response in 8 days like the other applicant.
So here's my timeline in Manitoba submitted application april 29/23 cc charged immediately. Reference checks done same day.
Called June 1st they told me it's sitting on cfo desk waiting for approval and it's the final stage. Called July 3rd was a guy who was mad that I called and told me not to waste my time calling it could be a week a month or 2 years

finally got to talk to the local cfo in New Brunswick and was told there is a 2-3 week backlog and was hoping to get to look at mine within the next 2 weeks ,
no boxes checked ,no major criminal offenses besides traffic tickets , buddy / neighbor of mine applied after me and got his approved in 28 days had his card in 34 days , ive been waiting almost 3 months so far
i cant understand the system besides its age based , from the people that ive talked to the younger crowd seems to take longer where the older generation gets it right after the 28 day min wait period
Firearms / hunters safety courses completed = 4/11/2023
Application filled out online / Received = 4/19/2023
Credit card charged = 4/19/2023
References confirmed = 4/19/2023

I'm hoping you guys can help me out with some PAL/RPAL application information. I called the RCMP for the first time today, they've said my application is now with the Chief Firearms Officer for final review.
I looked up the number for the CFO but its the same number I called for the RCMP.
Does this mean I'm close to getting my licenses?
(They received my paperwork in July, 2022.)

mines been with the cfo for 2 months , its a Eenie Meenie Miney Moe knida thing , some wait the min 28 days some wait years , if you checked any boxes expect a 1 to 2 year wait , from what i see there is not really a rule or logics behind what applications they do and how fast they do them but have heard the more you call / email the longer they tend to take , they advise to only call or email once per month

I called them at the 30 day mark , they said that my file was transferred to the cfo at the 29th day and to wait 4 weeks before calling back in , they actually called me Friday to tell me they are 2-3 weeks behind here in nb and that I should have a answer on mine in 2 weeks , my neighbor applied after me and got his approved in 29 days and already got his physical card in
There don't seem to be any reasoning/explanation behind the wait tines besides its a eine meanie miny moe type deal
