PAL Wait Time

Both. I'm not saying they were rude but they were not engaging or helpful at all. Both times I got told who to talk to or what exactly was being waited on were the guys. Probably coincidence.

First time posting was looking at this thread to anticipate wait times, Mine were as follows:
Feb 12 : Did my PAL safety course
Mar 2: Received results back from OPP
Apr 24: Mailed out PAL application (got lazy lol)
Apr 27: Miramichi received the application
May 29: Showed up online as initial processing began
May 31: I called they said my photo has been added to my application and was sent to the CFO, and to check back in 2 weeks as they were back logged
Jun 1: Licence has been processed and issued

I'm from Ontario, so mid next week i should receive my PAL in the mail.

Anyone have experience with the BC CFO and unrestricted PAL processing times? Apparently my application is sitting with them, I've tried calling but can't get through at all.

Mine was processed May 13 2016. Transferred to BC in late Aug or Early Sept 2016 and I am still waiting.

I am patiently waiting for my PAL. Still nothing online but it is only 21 days now. Anyone could tell me about the processing time in Saskatchewan?

April 18- application arrived at CFC with course results included

May 24- called in just to check on the status and was told reference should call, reference called in and 1 hour later was approved

Just a PAL? As long as there's nothing to flag your application it's likely to be approved around that 30 day mark that they are saying is the normal time for them to get it from the mailroom to online now. I haven't heard of any real issues from the Saskatchewan CFO. I'd give them a call and see if there's nothing online after 30.

No red flags. Only thing could be if they want to do more background checks.I am not a citizen yet but permanent resident. But am in canada since 2010.

AFAIK, that shouldn't cause much issue as citizenship is not a requirement to get a PAL. As I said before, if you don't see it online after thirty days I would give them a call.

You submitted the application in 2012, and are still waiting? That must be some kind record. :))

In case of interest, several people contributed to me writing this a few months ago:
How Long and How Much for a Gun Licence in Canada?

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice as to what is now a reasonable amount of time to expect the full processing of a PAL. I mailed in all my paperwork on May 29th 2012, and saw online that my application became active on June 7th 2012. In late June my application was marked as "completed initial processing and now in progress". Just a note ALL my paperwork was 100% correct all T's crossed and I's dotted. The website says you can expect about a 45 day processing time, am I right to be thinking things are taking a little long, or is 60 plus day just the norm these days. Thanks in advance:

Be pateient, and wait. That's all you need.

I got my FAC course in 1999, and took 9 months till I receive my FAC card. After I sent out my FAC application form, I ordered my first revolver IMMEDIATELY.
Due to some personal issue, I was not able to join any club, therefore, I cannot get my revolver home without club member.
That took me another four years to get my club member. I finally got my first revolver, well... all the rest firearms back home.

Sometimes, if you pushed too hard, the CFC would think you are about to do something, and they'll smply refused your application.

Law has changed, and they are fast enough compare to 20 yrs ago.

Be patient, and wait. That's all you need.

Hey Folks,

I'm new here..decided I'd crawled out from under my rock to say Hi. This is my first post. Thought I'd drop in and share my P.A.L experience thus far.

*For the Ladies and gents that are experiencing long wait times and frustrations.. I've been waiting years.

Did my PAL back in 2013 .. @ the Oxford Sportsman club in Woodstock, Ontario. Great place to take course btw.
They were offering the all in one "hunters ed with the non restricted" ..figured what the hell might as well get it all in one shot.
I wasn't into sport shooting, I actually wanted to be a trapper or work in conservation.

Went for the H1 hunter, passed. It was June something..Instructors said wait a few weeks to mail stuff in. Ok

Aboot ..5 days after the course.. an amazing opportunity presented itself.. and I ended up moving to the Yukon for a job. So off I went. Learned how to hunt and trap up der. Never applied for my PAL. Actually I forgot about the course reports and the pal. Prospecting panned out for me.

A few months later, I returned back to Ontario. Went back to my Moms.. Found the course reports and Ontario hunting license. got excited.. but discouraged too because my Mom said she was moving and I had to get my own place... ahh man..!!! Time to grow up. One week later I found myself in Montreal somehow.. lifes funny like that. Studied for two years there, met a girl..played house.. got her pregnant.. squuezed out a puppy... you know how it goes..Moved from Montreal back to Southern Ontario in the Summer of 2015. Bought a house near London .. The rest is history...

Aboot three months ago.. Wife and I were cleaning up the house sorting through our paper hoard and she found the CFSC report.

Wife convinced me to send it in and finally get my PAL. She says we need meat in the freezer.
She also wants to learn how to hunt and do the stuff that makes me the happy.. What a Gal eh! Her words " Teach your Daughter how to hunt so her boyfriends don't add up.

I can level with that.

Sent PAL April 26th 2017

Tried to check online..couldn't. * Make sure you type exactly what you put down on your application.. haha

Recieved May 4th 2017

Completed processing, currently in progress.

Called three weeks ago, told them I need it for a possible job in wildlife and to feed my family, Lady on the phone said mention that next time I call back. Called RCMP this past Friday, spoke to the same person I talked to the first time. Was told it has left the building and is at the Ontario CFO...Cool. I asked if it was appropriate for me to call CFO Ontario. She said not to bother, it should take him a week to review and that I should have it at my door in three weeks tops..if I haven't recieved it in three weeks to call back.
