PAL Wait Time

Thank you very much for the updates!

Should I understand it took you about 8 weeks to have your license printed and mailed? Also, during this extended period of time, did you have to make any phone calls to request for priority?

Again, my thanks!

It certainly speeds things up if you call!

After being approved mid March, I finally got my RPAL in the mail yesterday. And that's after getting moved up the queue by calling.

Absolutely disgusting wait times.

I thought you had to wait 28 days until your course paperwork comes in after the exam before submitting licence form?

Actually you can mail in (registered) everything except the exam result.
State that you passed PAL/RPAL and that you will forward result papers when you receive them.
Your 28 days start when officer Brown or Officer Green signs the Canada Post delivery notice.

Application Received on:2019-03-12
Current Status:Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.
Today is day #91. :jerkit:

I am stuck on the same message. Package received by CFP March 21. Package opened and CC charged April 11. I called April 15 to confirm all is well. Was told nothing missing all good.
Waiting for picture to be scanned. And that is where i sit now. Day 84 and counting.

Tried calling June 11 first thing. They wont even answer the phone. Once i went thru the menu to be put in queue i get message saying they are extremely busy. Wont put me in line to talk to a rep and
to call back later.

Hey peeps!
Question for the folks who already have a card issued;

Is the "Application Number" on the RCMP website the same as your Card number once your license has been issued?

Thanks.

My Timeline (Quebec) PAL/RPAL
Application Received on: 2019-04-12
CC Charged: 2019-05-07
Status Issued: 2019-06-11 "Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)"
Received Physical Card (RPAL): "to be determined"
===============================
I called the CFP this morning to :
1- Ask for my RPAL License Number and Expiration Date -> She gived to me!
2- Ask to be prioritized for the printing process -> Told me it should be printed within 10 Business days
3- If its legal to purchase a Restricted Firearm ONLINE without the physical card in hands -> No problem, if I stay at home to receive the package and store it securely at home. But would need the card to obviously go to the range... or get my package at the Post Office.

In those unsure days with everyone buying AR-15. It was a pain in the *** to find my dream AR I wanted for the past few months... All websites are OUT OF STOCK... But after a few hours of online search finally find it ! It was the last one in stock!
I got myself a Colt Canada SA15.7 + Holographic EOTech 512 Sight

For everyone still waiting out there... Good Luck!
It sure did help my process to call the CFP AND* CFO
Be friendly and say: "Sorry to bother you", "Have a great week !"

It's sad to say that but... You need to fight to get what you want... Maybe one day it will change!

Wow best day ever. Called in I think my fourth time now after being constantly told wait 2-4 weeks. BC First time PAL/RPAL application, no boxes, no colourful history...I am in fact pretty boring!

Took course at the end of Jan.
Mailed out results in Mid Feb.
Info Shows up online on March 27
CC billed on April 18
Repeated phone calls took place
Couple more phone calls for good measure
License Approved June 12th
Politely told it could take 4-6 weeks to print due to the printing backlog (no biggie cause I know it was at least approved)

I must say though this was the first time I called the BC CFO directly, and they were really nice people. First I was talking to a guy named Scott (I think he might have approved the license right there) but my cellphone cut out mid conversation so I had to call back. Ended up getting a lady named Charlene (I think) who was really nice as well. Took the required info from me, punched it in and said "Oh it was approved on the 12th" I looked down at the clock on my computer and gleefully said "Ooooh that was today, awesome. Probably why there was nothing online" then she explained about the printers and I politely chuckled and said I had heard the horror stories and could easily wait...I mean there is no ARs left to purchase anyways! Overall way better experience then just calling the main phone line and getting one of those less than enthusiastic people on the other end of the line, you know the ones that seem to hate life so much that you end up hating life yourself, just from talking to them for 5-10 mins. I honestly think it is maybe one or two people per province doing this, and not some big secret kabal to keep us from getting guns. But the discrepancies in the time frame and the complete lack of transparency without phoning and feeling like you are throwing a wrench into someones day is kind of a bummer. All in all if you are in BC and getting nowhere with the CFO back East, call them directly and be polite they seem quite willing to help out...I probably should've called them 4 weeks ago when back East told me to wait more...c'est la vie!
