PAL Wait Time

Application was received in NB Dec 14th. CC was charged on Jan 27. Also sitting on "completed initial review".

So this is actually for two applications, since my wife and I applied for our licenses at the same time.

My wife's PAL was approved and mailed on Feb 28, exactly 30 days after CC was charged.

Mine is still stuck on completed initial review. Called the CFO in BC. Apparently my photo is not yet scanned and they cannot do anything until that has been completed. Apparently I am in the queue and was told it shouldn't be too long. Of course the nice lady on the phone could not tell me what "not too long" actually meant.

Few hours later and my application now approved and license has been issued. Thank you kind RCMP lady!

Still nothing?

I called the CFO-ON yesterday afternoon and the woman I spoke with said she'd send a note to the assigned ofc and she may be able to get to my file this week. Just checked the CFP site, and my licence has been issued.

Nov 24 - Rec'd by CFP/RCMP in Miramichi
Dec 29 - Credit card charged
Jan 27 - Application sent to CFO-ON
Mar 03 - License issued

Dec 14, 2021: Application received
Feb 01, 2022: Credit card charged
Feb 01, 2022: Completed initial processing

I called the Manitoba CFO on Friday, they said that my picture had still not been uploaded into the system yet. They told me they were sending an e-mail to Miramichi and to call back at the end of the next week if nothing had changed. Checked an hour ago and I was approved and my license was being issued. Called the CFO and got my PAL and information over the phone!

I've been waiting since June 25th 2021, just spoke on the phone with BC CFO today. Here is my update:

June 25th 2021 - Application received (not sure when CC was charged, but it was either before or after application was received)
November 20ish - I called and asked for a status update. I was told my picture was no good (printed on regular paper) and to send a new one. I never got any notice from them in the mail that my picture was off
November 30ish - I sent in an updated photo, but unfortunately I used passport size and did not trim to the right dimensions. Not sure if this caused any issue
Dec 7th 2021 - Photo was received by RCMP
Feb 17th 2022 - Photo was "added to my file"? or something along those lines
March 7th 2022 - I called in at the 9530 extension and asked what is going on. The lady on the phone told me when my pictures were received and when they were "added to my file", but she noted that the picture wasn't yet scanned in. She put me on hold for a little while and asked me to call her back on Thursday (March 10th 2022) for an update. She gave me her personal extension to reach her at (which I wont give out, so please dont ask for it). I had forgotten to ask about this, but she did not mention any new problem with the photos being passport sized rather than PAL sized

Does anyone have any experience sending a passport sized photo? Was it approved? I'm going to be pissed if I have to send in new photos again and wait another 4 months after already waiting 8+ months....

Just got issued the license

March 8th, 2021 - Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.

A grand total of 256 days. Good news though that it seems they don't really care if you send passport size photos

but I now see you already knew this.

Contributing to the timelines here:

PAL application. Had "yes" on the personal history section for mental health and job loss reasons, included a letter describing both. Application received Dec. 6, CC charged Jan 18, still in "completed initial review" on online portal. No references contacted yet.

I called the other day to ask about the status and was told it should be approved in the next couple of weeks but that "there wasn't a picture of it yet" which I'm not sure the meaning of. I was actually caught off guard by this given I had the "yes" on the personal history section and didn't ask any follow-up questions. I thought I would call back and ask more follow-up next week because I'm skeptical that "approved in the next couple of weeks" is an accurate assessment given the nature of my application and the fact that no additional info was requested nor references called.

I called back to confirm things here and yeah, sure enough, there are no outstanding notes for the "yes" pieces and my references haven't been called. I suppose the letter I sent in with my application explaining my yes answers was very convincing. The agent assured me it was nearing completion and that it shouldn't be much longer. I know they say that to everyone, so hopefully this time they mean it and I'm not going to be caught in a pattern of being told "It'll be coming soon, promise!" each time I call lol

Just called the BC CFO, they haven't received my application yet. I was transferred to the mainline. They confirmed it was received and they have all of the information they need. I was told to call back if I haven't received it by May. Good enough for me as I don't need it until late July.

===BC PAL===

Dec 14th 2021 - Received
Jan 27th 2022 - Credit Card Charge
Jan 27th 2022 - I can login to view my application status
March 10th 2022 - Called BC CFO, not received yet. Mainline has my application and no problems.

Anyone with a submission received mid/late January? Seems like it's about a 5-6 weeks from when received to CC being charged. Mine was received January 20th, and still no CC charge. Getting antsy.

same here. Sent in on Jan 20-ish, nothing so far, no cc charge. I called last week and they don't see anything. The lady who answered phone even suggested that the application might be still sitting in the mail room.

It took mine 48 days from arriving in Miramichi to my CC being charged.

yep. I have applied more than 3 PAL (myself and family members). I found general rule is to add another month on top of 28 day waiting period before seeing anything. That means about 2 months.

Cold comfort then I guess. I called a couple weeks ago and they said they were working on early January applications. I'll be giving them a ring end of next week if I don't see a charge.
