PAL Wait Time

I’ve been waiting weeks since mines been issued too. Called after 2 weeks as it said and the lady told me another 3-4 weeks as it hasn’t been printed yet. Probably see it next year this time. If I’m lucky. My dad waited a whole year for his since it was issued.

A whole year for it to be printed??

Has anyone seen a list of firearms that will be leftover after this outrageous C21 ban passes? As much as I want to be optimistic that it will get thrown out the Liberals have appointed their friends all over the place to help push their agenda and I'm assuming it will pass.

On behalf of this coalition, the Liberals added a disastrous amendment to Bill C-21 effectively prohibiting several million additional, individual rifles and shotguns. These new prohibitions will include the SKS, Tavor, X-95, all AR180 and variants, Canuck bullpup shotguns, Crusader Arms, Kel-Tec Sub2000, SU16, RDB, RFB, JR Carbine, Kriss Vector, Ruger PC Carbine, Norinco T97 NSR, Benelli M4 and countless more.

Benelli M1 Super 90
Browning BAR
Freedom Ordnance FX-9
Kel-Tec RDB
Kel-Tec RFB
Kel-Tec SU-16
Kel-Tec Sub-2000
Kodiak Defence WK180-C
Kriss Vector
Mauser 1908 Brazilian Rifle (Bolt Action)
Norinco Type 97
Poly Technologies Type 81
Ruger PC Carbine
SKS
Springfield Armory M1 Garand
Tavor/IWI X95
Tavor 7
U.S. Carbine M1

The Benelli M4 is not affected.

I emailed the Ontario CFO and received the following generic response, with misspelled words included:

Your licence (sp?) application has been data entered and is still in it’s initial stages of processing. Please be patient as licence (sp?) application processing can take up to nine-months from date of receipt due to sheer volume of pending applications.

Chief Firearms Office ON//Controleur des armes a feu

Orillia ON L3V7T5
1-800-731-4000 ext. 7503 or
CFOON@cfp-pcaf.ca

Atleast it was signed "Kam" :)

I also called them a few times yesterday, and Ext 7503 goes straight to an unchecked mailbox, as does the general inquiry line. That is new. I guess like most government offices they are rarely prepared to handle the misguided policies of the PM/MP's.

Back to the switchboard!

Cheers,
C.

Emailed CFO to see if I could get any information on license printing status. They replied saying they're apparently at Nov 12 issued licenses. Take that for what you will.

What area are you from? Was told some areas have more applications than others. "kam" might just be assigned to a certain area with lots of applications not necessarily that you are flagged... just a guess though... :-(

Eastern Ontario. I doubt I'm flagged, I just find these differences in processing times bizarre and wildly different from one officer to the next. One approves them 15 minutes after emailing them and the other takes 9 months. Government is so very efficient :p

I am in the same boat, received the same email reply from KAM
I bought a recurve crossbow for this deer season, got it sighted in today and will be in the tree stand tomorrow

Nice! Enjoy!

I should have done this as well. I hesitated because with my luck, my license would have been approved the day after purchasing a bow lol.
Oh well, at this point I'll wait til spring and go from there.

Yeah, it's frustrating. They told me last week that I'm in the "queue " and should be approved this month and if not call in January and they will assign an officer....
Wish this whole application process would be explained a bit better...

Just wanted to post my experience, since it might give more insight into the whole /kam thing.

First time PAL and RPAL application in Ontario. Clean record, just speeding tickets from when I was younger.

Application sent: July 22 2022
Application received: July 29 2022
CC processed: Oct 4 2022

Emailed the CFO back in November asking if my application had been flagged, or if they required more information.

2 weeks later, still no response.

Figured it might have been due to my lack of information (didn't think to supply birth place, etc.) and because I emailed from my work email, which is different than the email I supplied on the application. So I emailed again, this time from my home email, and supplied all the information they might require (literally copied an email posted in this thread a few pages back), and within 48 hours (December 1 2022) I received an email saying "Thanks for your email. Your license has just been approved, yadda yadda... /mvc"

Then, yesterday I receive an email from the CFO in response to my work email requesting more information to look up my application, only its marked from "/kam".

So it might just come down to whoever responds to your email, and not who is actually assigned to it? I'm not sure. Maybe I dodged a huge bullet by sending another email, and getting lucky enough to have /mcv respond first. Either way, I'm relieved to finally have it approved. Big thanks to this thread and forum!

I have no idea who /MVC is but he/she is a credit to the CFO's office and is responsive and professional in his/her response. We need more MVCs in this world...
