PAL Wait Time

UPDATE: Submitted September 25th 2023, call back today for interview and approval June 11th, 2024. Checking boxes makes this go a lot slower, but better than it being recklessly fast and the wrong person being handed a firearm.

Congrats brother!!! I just called today. It was 31 day mark since online application submitted (May 11th 2024). The lady on the phone said please wait 5 minutes for her to do quick background check and approve the license. Few minutes later she said the license is issued. 31 days since the application submission is crazy! Alberta.

Now just waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

FWIW, I had a rather pleasant experience obtaining my PAL, despite some fears it might take a very long time or that my application even would be denied.

Overall, it took about 6 weeks (Ontario, online application). Started the application at the beginning of April. I had to use international references, because I landed in Canada (from Europe) late 2022 and obviously do not know any Canadian for longer than 3 years yet. But that seemed not to be a problem. They required a police clearance / certificate of conduct from back where I lived before, though.

BTW was this Restricted or non-restricted?

I just applied for my first PAL in Ontario. Restricted and non-restricted.

Took the courses last year but didn't get around to applying.

> Applied April 22nd, 2024. Payment went through.

> References singed April 23rd, 2024.

> PAL arrived in the mail May 31st, 2024.

Online still says "Application Successfully Submitted", but my PAL arrived in the mail yesterday!

Update... Online is still showing "Application Successfully Submitted", but I am now the proud owner of a GSG-16 Carbine!

Well, sent in application late May 14th, references filled out May 15th (shows as received the 14th), currently June 13th so my 28 day waiting period ended yesterday. Still sitting on "completed initial review". Wondering if I should call in and be the "squeaky wheel" or wait another week. Fwiw I'm in BC, but I had to check the history of depression box (I was honestly that I was in a rough spot a few years ago but I provided paperwork from a registered councilor I used to get back into university last year as well as my pilot's license that requires a doctor to sign off on medical history include mental wellness).

did my course august 2023 , had to wait until the max 6 months, file was picked up an sent to a cfoon officer. Was called in June to answer a few questions. Card in mail within 2 weeks!:dancingbanana:

9 friends did their PAL course in February. 5 women and 4 men. Of the women, all 5 have received their licenses, with the shortest lead time being under 3 weeks from submitting online to receiving the card. The longest was 4 weeks from submission to card. None of the men have received their licenses yet, with zero extenuating circumstances or issues. Two of which have high level government securities clearances, and one who is ex RCMP.

Go figure

PAL passed Feb2024
Applied online, paid and all signatures received April

Still waiting

Called twice and they said application is with the provincial firearms controller.

Can anyone tell me where I should be calling to resolve this??

Took me a month or two to get my PAL license, however I only applied for my Non-Restricted and sent it through mail. I got mine 2 weeks ago.

British Columbia

Application received on 2024-02-19

2024-6-10 Still waiting.

I sent mine in on 2024-02-14 and now it's 2024-06-23. I guess I'll make a phone call tommorrow and see if they'll nudge my application. Normally I have to assume they don't like to be rushed, but I'd like to settle my late father's estate.

Same, QC RPAL application, they received on 21/02 and nothing happened afterwards... I called the RCMP last Wednesday and she told me it's in final step. If it's not issued in 4-6 weeks I should call back. I asked whether I could provide any further information and she said not required. Non of my reference got called apparently

CFSC taken MTL Dec 2018, put PAL application on ice as I don't support the gun registry in QC, plus I didn't want my ex to derail the application out of spite.
Applied in Ontario April 12 this year, approved 60 days later June 12. Have yet to receive the card through the mail.
