Barrel length is just for velocity and most people just use that sight radius, for those that want more slap on a bloop tube. If you are not using a rear diopter, it will also depend on your eyes and what your focal length is at. Ideally, I believe your ideal focal length for shooting is 2x your sight radius. So if you need correction, then you will have to have your eyes tested to see what diopter you need whether it be .25,.37, .5, .63, .75 etc..
There is lots of good reading on the usrifleteams. com forum, search for "ocular issues in your shooting game" well worth the time it takes to register IMO.
You can't take this as gospel as I am still learning myself, but there is a lot of good reading out there, it just takes time.
