Is there an ideal or preferred sight radius for Palma target rifles? I know this depends a lot on barrel length and bullet weight, but I believe the majority of these rifles use 30" barrels and 155g Palma match bullets. The only time this appears to be critical is when you are shooting as a team and wind and elevation changes are made as a team.

Barrel length is just for velocity and most people just use that sight radius, for those that want more slap on a bloop tube. If you are not using a rear diopter, it will also depend on your eyes and what your focal length is at. Ideally, I believe your ideal focal length for shooting is 2x your sight radius. So if you need correction, then you will have to have your eyes tested to see what diopter you need whether it be .25,.37, .5, .63, .75 etc..

There is lots of good reading on the usrifleteams. com forum, search for "ocular issues in your shooting game" well worth the time it takes to register IMO.

You can't take this as gospel as I am still learning myself, but there is a lot of good reading out there, it just takes time.

No specific sight radius, other than "longer is better". But at the typical sight radius (see below) you're usually at the point of diminishing returns so you don't see bloop tubes very much (unless a particular shooter has very specific vision reasons to do so)

Typical rifles have 30" barrels, so sight radius usually ends up being 34"-36" depending on the action length and the details of front sight mounting location and stock length / rear sight mounting location. It is unusual to see a barrel shorter than 29" or longer than 32".
