Someday i'd like to get a Paraordnance 14.45, it's the only gun i think i'd ever buy new.

But I hear bad things about the metal they use, especially in regards to it chipping off around the safety and slidecatch slots.

Any truth to this?

Their lemon rate is way too high to try. They are no longer a Canada company, no point to buy one.

I've only seen 3 or 4 at the club, and they all had issues. The one guy had just picked it up at Epp's and promptly went over and traded it for a kimber.

Sad to say, but it is true. Sights fall off, cracks in frames and slides, peening of slide stop cut... etc.

Personally, a Para is the last 1911 I'd ever buy.

"Going to get one as soon as I come back from Beruit. And I ain't never goin' to Beruit". Or as the saying goes.

NAA.

I got one from the original runs, and it works great, my friend got one a few months after and has nothing but issues... i hear the newer stuff is even worse.. not worth it anymore.. QC is horribad

Funny, some people think Para is junk and low grade crap. I on the other hand own one of these beauties. It is a P13-45 Limited Stainless 4-1/4 barrel .45 of the 1911. It shoots well and what can I say it's Made in Canada not in the USA. I never heard of (Sights fall off, cracks in frames and slides, peening of slide stop cut... etc)Quote from Tobin. I bought this in 2000 and it functions very well. It has a wide handle on it to accomodate the 10 rnds + mags.

well I had a 16 40 stainless limited , the front site fell off , the rear site fell off , the extractor broke , the ejector broke , now I know some things are prone to break in the 1911s but not all in the first year , when the slide cracked , I got rid of it ! the good news is it was all covered by warranty but it was still too much , this was a 2002 gun made in Canada , it was also rebuilt in Canada .

Too many guys with too many issues, and now if you want warranty, it's the same story as Springer - ship to the importer, importer ships to manufacturer, manufacturer dicks around for 3 months, ships back to importer, ships back to you - total time, 6 months.

They used to make half decent guns in the early days, but no longer. There are much better 1911s on the market for the same or less money.

If you have never heard of problems with Para, you must be new to the internet or at least any of the gun sites. ;)

If you have one that has no problems, you are one of the lucky ones.

I have yet to see a Para with out QC issues

Glock and SIG have had there QC issue's, but atleast they solve them.

the older canadian guns were between decent and very good, the new ones are terrible, better off buying a norc or RIA clone (for double stack at least)
