Been reading that people don't like para's. This was after I found this beauty, anyone familiar with this model? What are your thoughts/experiences?

are the magazines for this model difficult to find? will it take all 10 round double stack magazines designed any para ordnance double stack 45 platform?

they also have one with a 5 inch barrel, with an 8 round magazine.

I'm assuming this is a single stack model, will it take traditional 1911 mags? the original mags for the 1911 hold 7, correct?

More about the company ignoring their Canadian roots before and after they slid South. Even when they were still in Markham, Canadians were ineligible for any of their assorted contests.
Like enefgee says, they don't care about the Canadian market.

It's funny how people defend Norc's till there blue in the face. But a gun like the Para they tear it apart. IMO they are well made and priced to match. Really I could care less about all the crap about being Canadian and snubbing or whatever. I would buy one of these.

That's your opinion. I myself and dozens of other members have seen these poor quality Junkers go back for repairs numerous times. My $350 Norc never has.

I'm not a newb when it comes to researching and reading about firearms, but I am newb when it comes to actually handling and firing firearms. Can anyone recommend a quality 1911 which has an under barrel rail, night sights and an ambidextrous thumb safety? And is known for eating any kind of ammo you feed it?

sorry if these are annoying questions or things that have been discussed at length already in this forum...

From what I've read about norincos, some people claim theirs are just fine while others complain about many things. So I guess some people get lucky and others don't. I'd be much angrier if I had problems with a $1000 1911 than a $400 1911.

That's funny, if you go to Para's website this and other firearms offer $100 cash back rebate till the end of June and it is available to Canadians.

P.S. I guess your sig line delivers :)

Para Sucks donkey balls...

Took over a year to get my Pistol back. They dont give a crap about us.

Neither does N.S for that matter...

And I had a Canadian Forces Edition pistol... 700$ wasted////

Worst Q.C I have ever seen....

actually, I didn't say anything about snubbing the Canadian market - I said they aren't as good as other guns, and they have poor warranty support. Personally, I've never sent a gun in for warranty, but some folks here want warranty - I usually figure out what's screwed up and un screw it. The major issues with Para (that I have seen with my own eyes) are -poor quality materials/design/heat treat to the slide lock notch, resulting in peening (resulting in never locking open again).. Lousy finish - PVD my left nut, more like cheap spray paint with no primer - whatever they use, it comes off and looks bad. Crappy small parts that wear out due to incorrect hardness and fail early. Guns that go away for warranty and seemingly never come back - and if they do come back, they aren't fixed. That's what I've seen - I've heard worse. Take a look at a SAM from Wolverine, they seem to be great. Or add a Dawson Rail and some night sights to a tuned Norc, or half a dozen other 1911's - it'll be better than a Para.

A friend of mine is a high volume agency dealer for Gravel agency who deals with Para (not sure if N.S. Does also or if gravel took it over, or sells Para to N.S.) I just put the bug in his ear about the Black ops recon 9mm, I will update when I hear back from him.

appreciate it!

Hit and Miss. I know one guy who bought from a supporting dealer (no bashing here). He was fore-warned about QA issues. It was a 40 cal double stacked SS version not sure of the model. The warning came as to known jamming issues. But the buyer insisted he wanted one. The dealer ordered one for him. Long story short, day one, jam after jam. He asked the house gunsmith for help. Few days later, same problems. He wanted to return the FA, but you know the answer. Sent back for warranty, few months later, traded-in for another brand. Some people had good experience with Para. But more had bad to worst. You wanted a PARA, go for it. You get a jammomatic pistol, deal with it. With good one, be happy. Goodluck!

I recall during the firearm panic buying there were multiple pictures of empty selves exept for full racks of para products, I view that as a warning sign.

Some guns jam mysteriously, and no explanation will ever really be found. They just do it over and over, with whatever mag you try, whatever ammo you use, and there's no predicting it, or explaining it, and as a result, it can never be fixed.

Truly a ParaNormal experience.

Someone give this guy a beer.
