Update........just got out of the man (looky) shop with some fine results.
Made a little jiggy jiggy (

) to take the outer ring off.
There is a spacer or O-ring guard behind the outer lock ring.
Fine pick got this out just swell.
Found a scopeless rifle and mounted the full of parallax scope on and clamped'er
in the vise.
Brought out the range finder and found a 98 yard tree.
Started to thread out the inner rings as the posted above site offered.
Bit at a time and the wobbly X hair tightened up.
Found a 48 yard target and the camper out front was 22 yards.
I unscrewed until the tree was all nice and steady.
Still some in the 48 yard target.
Got it all happy.
Still a bit at 22 yards.
Couple more adjustments and

.......frick'in WHOOOOOT!
Swung the vice so the barrel was aiming at the far and beyond hillside
and not a wiggle to be.
Not sure where this one needs to go.
Maybe the Marlin for hundred yard fur?
Maybe the CZ for little fur?
Decisions decisions............
Super7, if eye was allowed, your post deserves a trader rating.
Might be a bit shilly though........
I now have a scope that will work close and a bit furder.....

Now to take after the 3x9x40 on the rim that won't do 25 yards.
Thanks for the lesson yu'all.
