Pardus Reviews?

Whew, OK, I'm back from the livecast.

The long and short of the Pardus SL:
-Comes with removable chokes in a nice little choke case with wrench. Modified, Full, and Improved Cylinder. Uses Beretta MobilChoke style chokes like most other Turkish guns arriving.
-Very light, with little weight up front. Gas piston around the magazine tube, recoil spring in the stock.
-Shell lifter is half closed in normal use, so I don't think it will ghost load (but will try when I'm at the range)
-Does NOT come with an extended magazine tube, despite the product image that is on the WSS product page.
-Stock is plasticy, hollow sounding. Buttpad has some give, but is not super squishy.
-Decently polished chamber
-Magazine tube uses same thread pitch as Benelli Super Nova/Stoeger 3500, but is crimped at the end. You'd need to remove the crimp to add a magazine extension.

I'll have a more complete review on my site and YouTube channel after I've got a chance to run some rounds through it. All in all, seems like a stupid good deal at $260.

Its seems to work great but it is weird. it would be annoying to unload a loaded shotgun without firing as you would have to hit the lever to pick up the next round to eject.

but on a big plus It looks like it might feed very reliably, I have some half size snap caps the semi autos never like to pick up or feed correctly and this thing doesn't seem to care. ihave ran 5 snap caps threw 6 times without a hiccup. definitely looking foreword to trying it out this Sunday. plus its a pistol grip semi, that just has to be fun/

When you get a chance, can you tell if the stock will be easily replaced? I ordered that model thinking pistol stock like a Benelli M4, not literal pistol grip on a semi auto lol.

I just ordered another couple of stocks from corwin arms. Most turkish made shotguns are the same so I figured I would give it a shot.

I have owned a couple of girsan and they were both great pistols, And I had a Weatherby pump shotgun for quite a while and it functioned perfectly. I currently own a sinsinati I picked up from corwin and I have no complaints what so ever.
 
Like it or not, if you are looking for a new firearm today, chances are getting very good that it will come from Turkey. More and more manufactures are having various models made there. They are getting better all the time. A lot of it depends on the price point a certain brand name wants a gun built to. The lower ya go, well!!! So we'll see how these particular guns turn out. My hopes are not high so who knows, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. Plus one has to match the gun to intended use. Not much sense in ordering a $388.00 over/under if intended use is league clay shooting. All that does is bring out bad reviews at the end of the season because the gun didn't stand up to 10,000 shots in 4 months. In hunting scenarios most people wouldn't shoot that in a lifetime and that's what these guns are intended for. If on the other hand we start getting reports of a number of guns failing after 100 shots, well I guess we'll have our answer.
 
Turkey makes some excellent guns. As always, you get what you pay for, but you tend to get a little more quality for the dollar spent with Turkish guns in my experience.

I am actually quite certain that I will not be owning any Turkish made shotguns, but then I don't purchase sub $1000 shotguns.
 
Just got notification that my over/under has been shipped.
I wonder if the silver receiver model was ever available at this price. I kind of think this promotion is just for the black receiver model.

Two SxS's above $1000.00 that come right to mind that are made in Turkey are the Dickinson and the S&W Gold Elite although the Elite is discontinued. DeHaan is another. There are others if one wants to research. Point is there are getting to be Turkish guns made in various price point categories for an increasing number of gun brands. Whether one wants to own one is an entirely different matter. Back in the 70's if you mentioned owning a Spanish gun you got the same reaction. I have a few of those Spanish guns and there is nothing wrong with them.
Now I'm not a staunch advocate for low priced budget guns, but if a particular gun works for it's intended use at a very attractive price, the there is not a whole lot to loose. As mentioned, in this case the jury is still out. But at $388.00 for an over/under that will see limited hunting use, I was prepared to gamble.

yeah, the silver was on sale as well as the black, they just sold out quicker.
 
Budgets for guns vary from person to person so decent lower priced guns have a niche to fill. I know there is the used market, but a lot of people starting out have no idea how or where to buy used. Good luck to the new Pardus owners. Post your comments on them once you get a chance to use them.

got mine today. actually not to bad, finish is a parkerized feel that seems like its decently thick. bolt is smooth and the trigger is actually pretty light, but the bolt release is a little stiff. mine came with a fixed cylinder barrel. The pistol grip is small and feels a little flimsy and the sights on a pistol grip shotgun are kind of redundant but I definitely cant complain so far. It feels a lot like a Mossberg 930.

I wish the site had better descriptions... I had no idea it was a pistol grip stock, with no butt on it! I was debating which one to get, but I want to be able to shoulder it.. any word on compatible aftermarket stocks?

Apparently 98% of the Turkish pumps and semis use the same stocks so the corwin arms stocks should work. I ordered one yesterday and will post the results as soon as i can. They definetly look like they have the same angle and trigger guard as the ones that he has for sale.
