Patterning my Turkey Gun!!!!!

i use the kicks on my super nova and have put 5-7 pellets into the kill zone using number 6, 2 1/4oz 3 1/2 winchester shells at 60 yards (not saying i feel comfortable with that shot but its there) the only problem ive had with it is it rattles loose fairly easily . likely can solve that with some teflon tape or something but i dont mind screwing it back in every once in a while.

Well I took your advice guys. Bought a Kicks Gobblin' Thunder .655 ported turkey choke for my Mossy 535

HOLY CRAP this thing did wonders for my patterns

At 20 yards. 95 pellets in a 6" circle

at 35 yards 58 pellets in a 6" circle

First shot with the 3.5" I smacked my nose with my hand and just about broke my nose LOL blood all over my gun and hand. Rookie move I know, But JESUS wasn't expecting that. So used to trap loads LOL

I hear that! I was stupid enough to try my first 3.5" Turkey load the morning of a day long skeet shoot. Sitting position, WHAMO! bruised cheek and sore shoulder, by the end of the day and 250+ skeet loads my arm was about ready to fall off.

Good thread, going for turkey this year so this is all very helpful.

Figured it was the choke.Good luck in the woods.

Nevermind I found them. Here is a dimentional comparison of the chokes:

Kicks Gobblin - available in .665 and .655
Indian Creek - .665
Rem Turkey Super Full - .660

Kicks Gobblin in .655 is tightest followed by Rem then Indian Creek.

Wilson precision makes extended 12ga chokes that are 0.6380. Now that's tight

There's alot more to a good choke tube than constriction only. How fast it tapers, the material it's made from, over-all length, ports, etc. Finding the right combination of tube and ammo is the key.
