Trying to decide what direction I want to go with my PCC optic (FX9).
I have a few red dots (TRS-25 / Holosun 508 etc etc) which I plan to try to see if any feel "right" but as this will be competition / gamer rig I want something quite open with a good field of view and easy to pick up dot. Ideally the dot would be a fine centre dot for precision where required and some sort of larger out ring for speed on the closer stuff (the only optics on my list with this type of reticle are the Holosuns)
I have looked around and narrowed it down to the following (note: I prefer green dots over red but either will work):
1) Holosun 510C.
This is an open reflex type sight and as such should offer easy viewing / good field of view. It has the multi reticle system (fine point which is useful for when accuracy is required at distance and larger 32MOA outer ring for fast / easy pickup on closer targets - best of both worlds). I dont like my optics crazy high so this looks about right for me. Price seems decent and it is offered with a green reticle. Ticks a lot of boxes. Only downsides I can find are that as an open reflex type it may struggle in wet rainy conditions and right now they aint in stock anywhere.
2) Trijicon MRO.
Closed emitter type red dot so no issues with rain etc. Probably one of the best or the best field of view for this style of optic. Available with green dot. Downsides - its pricy, its only available with a 2MOA red dot which is fine for precision at distance but may be slower to pick up than some other offerings at the closer distances where the bulk of the targets are.
3) SIG Romeo MAX XL with 6MOA dot & Scalarworks mount.
This is an open reflex type optic so would suffer from the same weaknesses as the Holosun (ie rain may be an issue). Field of view is MASSIVE so combined with the 6MOA dot should be easy to pick up / get on target for the closer stuff. Downsides are its pricy (particularly with a separate mount) / hard to find / only offered with a red dot and the 6MOA may be on the large side for any sort of precision at distance (I know a PCC wont be reaching out to crazy distances but I have never tried a dot this big so dont know what that would look like).
4) Holosun HS512C
This is basically the same optic as the 510C except it is closed so no issues with moisture. Downsides are no green reticle option (boo!) and being closed it will probably be a little slower to pick up than the open type 510C.
Thoughts? I am open to suggestions for any good options I have overlooked.
