AFAIK, Remington had the contract for the ammunition. Plain brown box labeled in red as "KLEANBORE 160 GRS. METAL CASED BULLET" , cartridges head stamped REM-UMC 30-30.Very nice!!! That would have been an excellent choice for the Pacific NorthWest with the ranges expected on the shorter side due to heavy rainforest growth. Most folks living there probably already had extensive experience with the 94 and didn't need a whole lot of marksmanship training.
I'd be interested to know what load these rifles were issued with and what company had the contract.
It's nice that the PCMR veterans were allowed to buy their issued rifle afterward at a decent price. Different times.
