I meant no disrespect Troy. My point is that if it's a blaster, give it blaster ammo...![]()
If we were referring to a short barrelled bolt action or any other firearm where accuracy was a concern, I'd definitly play around with some faster buring powders to make the load as consistent as possible.
With a PDW, accuracy is not my primary concern, 100% reliability and function is. That's what I'm looking for in my choice of ammo. If it just happens to be very accurate, then all the better. Under the circumstances 3MOA @ 100 yds. from a PDW would more than satisfy me.
I recognize what you're saying and I've been there too. I'm just say'n that for the money you guys put into your guns, there is a huge psychological advantage to cook'n up your own load that also works in the gun without altering the gas system and all that.
The constent is the gun, casings, probably primers, but the two variables are your bullet choices (which is nice) and powder. Try this if you have them - take a polymer tip bullet, just the bullet, grab it with a pair of needle noze plyers and heat up the copper jacket with a butane torch. Once the jacket gets hot enough, the polymer tip will crawl out the front like a worm. Take a pair of tweezers and pull the tip out. You've lost 1 grain and gained a 2-3mm hole with a massive hollow point. If this kind of stuff floats your boat, have fun with it, if you still prefer you fmj bulk stuff, that's ok too. It's all good either way.
