Question for Gadget (or anyone else): Sling attachment on the NEA PDW stock? Is there a ring midline on the first part of the stock rear of the grip? It looks like the standard reciever sling-plate accessories will be a no-go with the new design. Curious how it functions, since a sling is such an important part of a rifle.
Looks like there might be clearance for a QD sling mount.
There is ZERO point in musing about sling attachment as the prototype didn't have a sling attachment. There have been discussions about sling attachment options but that is secondary to the stock itself and will be worked out in the final production version.

I wonder, will this stock come with different spring weights to accommodate various barrel lengths? With the amount of f**king around most AR users have to do with buffers and springs for various barrel lengths on a normal buffer tubed lower, I would assume that the spring system is not "one size fits all" in this application? Or is it just designed for 7" barrels?
The one on my Ar is fake. The one on Suputins? Pretty sure it's real.
The prototype uses a 1911 recoil spring which is cheap and easy to get in a variety of weights etc. I'm not sure what the production spring will be. It wouldn't make sense to try to include a spring for every conceivable application otherwise every stock would have to come with a half dozen springs which would needlessly raise the price.
Yes, they are real. The one you see in the above pics was specially designed for use on short barreled PDWs. It features a patented Monocore baffle stack enclosed in a coaxial tube arrangement to increase the blast chamber volume for reduced blowback without increasing the OAL of the suppressor. This tiny silencer renders a 7.5" 556 PDW hearing safe. The entire package is 23" tip to tip with the stock collapsed.

There were no sling points incorporated into the prototype that I designed which everyone is seeing pics of posted as it was only created as a proof of concept to ensure the mechanical side of things functioned properly and was as reliable as it should be.
The ring you see in the pics is to actuate the locking mechanism release, I abandoned that particular design as it didn't turn out to be as robust as I hoped and found out in Gagetown that it is prone to sticking
when exposed to the nasty mud there
I did have a sling mounted to it via a Blue Force Gear adapter, however it wasn't ideal but did let you at least use it with a single point
setup.
My Gen 2 version has provisions for QD sockets and/or a sling plate butI'll have to sort out which version would prove more useful and tailor things best work with whichever one we go with.
Not sure what NEA is planning to accomodate sling mounts as they've kept me in the dark about their plans but I'm sure they'll figure out what needs to be done.

Thanks for the response, 1911 springs are available in a ton of options, it was very smart to use them in the prototype. I hope that is the type of spring NEA uses for production, for the reasons I previously stated.

Thanks (all). 9lbs 13oz; the Elcan, Surefire and UBR add about 2lbs over a RDS and standard CTR.

I keep saying this is my last build, and then I have an hour to kill and start messing around again... I wasn't happy with the final weight and balance, so I tinkered with a few things, swapped out the UBR for a CTR with LaRue RISR and replaced the Elcan with an Aimpoint T1. Much happier with the weight and balance now (and there's room for an EOTech magnifier).
