Mirror finish magazine? First time I seem in my life. Nice

No because it won't work. You can't retap 28 tip thread to 36 tip thread of the same size without buggering up both. The only solution is to cut off the existing muzzle thread and recut new 1/2-28 thread along with a new crown. Either that or have a conversion sleeve/extension made.

EXCELLENT Idea ! I scoured the internets and found:

Its a 1/2x36 to 1/2x28 Thread Adapter - its $49.99 SO Im going to give these guys a shout to see if they are OK with mailing this to Toronto.

You do realize that you're possibly the only man alive who's definition of "mixmaster" includes KAC, Colt and LMT - right? For most, "mixmaster" means NEA, Norinco and Bushmaster.

And here this whole time, me talking about building a 300 I figured you thought I was talking foolishly haha good it will be easier to find ammo if we both run 300

First off thank you to all that constructively contributed to my post.

Its simply amazing what happens to a posts on the board sometimes!! LOL!!

After seeing all these excellent builds, I am now able to contribute something constructive to this post as well!!

A good friend of mine asked me to build a PDW with him.

We discussed the specs at length, and settled on the 7.5" barrel length.

Opportunity was kind to us, and we were able to get all the required parts in short order.

I finished late last night and thought I would share it with you all.

Fist the pictures, with the specs to follow:

  • Noveske 7.5" Heavy profile barrel with 1/7 twist, M4 cuts, and Noveske pinned Low profile gas block with Barrel nut
  • Pistol length Gas tube
  • Troy Carbine length quad rail
  • Areo precision flat top upper reciver w/ FA & DC
  • NEA F/A B&C
  • Charging handle
  • Centurion Diopter sights
  • Magpul AFG (Gen 2)

Lower
  • Aero Precision Lower
  • DPMS Lower Parts Kit (with undesirable parts replace with higher quality spares)
  • Ambi-Selector
  • Moe Grip+ (rubberized)
  • Gapper
  • KNS Anti-rotation pins
  • Standard Mil-spec Carbine buffer assembly (complete)
  • 3H buffer
  • Magpul CTR mil-spec carbine stock

If things go according to plan, we should have an opportunity to test this one this weekend, with a range report to follow.

There is one note I would like to make. I appreciate that the trend these days is towards slimmer more modular free float tubes with less rails.

However in this case both my friend and I prefer the more substantial older style full quad rail.

Anyhow, Thanks for taking the time to read my post, and I look forward to any constructive comments you might have

Regards and all the best

AbH
