PDW builds - Lets see them, and share results

If I could get a Tavor in 7.62x39, I'd buy one. I like the heavier bullets a lot more. The 300whisper makes a lot of sense but apparently recoil is a hand full from a short barreled AR.

Sweet looking Noveske! The only thing that would hold me back on a .300 BLK on an AR are the issues with reloading the cartridge on volume basis. Accurate bullets are expensive and making brass is a major PITA.

Gravel Agencies (Remington distributor) told me they don't plan on supporting the cartridge by importing Remington brand ammo, brass, or components. It's my understanding that a 115gr. FMJ bullet will be available at some point for bulk purchasers (State side).

For guys who like the cartridge, we're basically on our own.

what about the relatively cheap 150 gr fmj pills?

They'll work. So, will a large number of others. The only reason I mentioned the 115's is because they'll presumably be cheaper then the 150's when bought in bulk. Assuming we ever have access to them. :(

The main issue is and will likely remain - brass.

Well I tough brass was going to be a pain but I got a bunch of .221 fireball. Necking up was done in 2 stages 1st with the .300AAC dies I used 2 different expander balls staggered a .2640 on top of a .2445 with dillon caselube. Then ran the expanded brass with the .308 ball and voila! no split cases.

That's still a ton of work for a CQB gun. 7.62x39. So cheap to shoot, has some punch still. I still really like the looks of the shorty ARs

All is not lost. Hopefully. ;) It looks like Hornady is making factory 300 Whisper ammo in two flavours: a 110 grain v-max and a 208 grain a-max sub-sonic. I'm sure other manufacturers will jump on board very soon as this cartridge gains momentum. And I am confident that it will.

Yeah, but at what cost? I have no interest paying $30 for 20 rounds.

Yeah... :( You do make a good point... But with any luck they will sell their 110 gr V-Max bullets and then it's just a matter brass... Hopefully by this time next year we'll be discussing which dealers have the best prices on 300 blackout\ Whisper ammo and components.

I'm with you 100% on that!

SCHWEET carbine. Don't even want to know what you paid for that. :O

I am making it from cut down 223 and it really isn't that big of a deal. Helps to have a full sized lathe with a bore stop though. However I have seen different ways of doing it. As long as you run a brass catcher on the rifle, it makes the production process worthwhile.

Honestly it is not that difficult. Remove the decapping rod and run the 223 case through the size die to neck down the body. Trim the case to length and debur. Install the decapping rod and run the case through the size die a second time. Voila, you have a case ready to load.

I also have several hundred rounds made from necked up 221 FB. I use original Hornady SSK 300 Whisper dies which neck up in a single step. I think I only lost 2 or 3 per hundred which is more than acceptable for such a simple process.

I am not specifically familiar with the 115gr bullet but I can tell you the 110gr VMAX is a bit too short for reliable functioning. I prefer the 125gr Nosler BT.

The 150gr pulled mil stuff is a really good choice as well. It can be run both subsonic and supersonic and a 150gr bullet at 1800 fps out of a short barrel offers a ton of punch.

For subsonics, the best bullet out there is the Lapua 200gr subsonic bullet. It is supremely accurate and surprisingly affordable. Not to mention easily available through Hirsch Precision in Nova Scotia. The Lapua's are a better bullet and are cheaper than the 208 AMAX.

Alright boys and girls.

I was just in contact with Allweatherarms.com and they sell 300 Blackout brass. Ready for the kicker?

They sell 1000pcs once fired AAC 300BLK brass for $100. AND THEY SHIP TO CANADA!!!!!!

http://www.allweatherarms.com/1000-...out-Brass-1000-Pcs-Processed-300-Blackout.htm

This is an opportunity of a lifetime. 1000pcs of cleaned, resized, primer pocket swaged? Wow....

300 ballisticsofarainbow\ whisper

You did know that this round is considered a short range cartridge, right? The absolute maximum effective range of the .300 Blackout/.300 Whisper/.300 WTF is 300 yards or less, even with supersonic ammo.

Subsonics definitely have a "rainbow" trajectory but that's to be expected under the circumstances.

I'm not sure what the point of your post is. Care to enlighten me?

f**k me gently! They're definitely making the cases from .223 Lake City brass then. I guess my brass issues are over effectively tomorrow. lol. I guess they don't realize it's against their own laws to export reloading components without an export permit from DOS.
