PDW builds - Lets see them, and share results

I like it. He's never going to get it mixed up at the range, for sure. Personally though, I think the Norinco deserves a candy apple red gloss job.

Nice carbines. With NEA's recent release of 7.5" PDW's, I'm surprised we haven't seen more here? This thread IS still about PRW's, isn't it? Or, have we just gone past that point now?

I think some people skipped the PDW part altogheter and posted downright builds, or don't know what PDW mean?
seriously, how can a 20'', 16'' and 14'' be PDW

even this with the long mag is pushing it:

20" is excesive for a PDW but a 14" if you know how to use it can work realy well.

and why would it have to be a realy short barrle to be considered a PDW why would it matter. if you know how to use the firearm your useing to defened yourself why wouldnt a 14" or a 16" not be a PDW.

just my opinion

To me, a PDW's length is defined by the user's ability to exit tight confines. The PDW should be no longer than the shoulder width of the user. 20" overall length is the maximum in my mind. Try climbing out of a hatch with some of these 14" barreled "PDWs" that some are posting and you'll realize that they really aren't PDWs.

I can strap my PS90 across my chest and it doesn't extend beyond my shoulders. That was one of the criteria set out by NATO when the call came for a PDW for pilots and tankers.

PDW's still haven't hit their stride, I see the PDW as pistol+ in size, and rifle- in capability. A micro sub with range and modest AP capability essentially. MP7's the closest thing going to that that I can think of right now, P90 while hideous as well. Not that hideous means anything aside from all of us on an online gun site playing Barbie dress up gun. A mini-AR is just too cumbersome and has too much extraneous crap hanging off it typically, and even if 'clean' which is rarely seen today, too many edges and protrusions. An AR carbine is a great little gun but not a PDW in any form in my unprofessional opinion.

KevinB, working for a company that touts an AR platform as a PDW I'm sure would disagree, and he has the background and experience too. For me though the KAC 6mm and AAC's Honey Badger etc are micro-carbines, a different, though highly capable class of guns but not PDWs. I'm a civilian helicopter pilot, so my insight comes merely from imagining dealing with an AR PDW in a fight situation out of a machine, and it's just too cumbersome. An MP7 would be so much easier to handle, use, stow/carry, etc out of a cockpit or similar situation. I see the PDW as 99% carry 1% fight, therefore transport and carriage needs to be the #1 consideration.

^^^I like the look of that. Grip looks rther funky though. Given any thought to the new Magpul K-grip? Have you tried the 5/20 rd. P-MAGS yet? It's be a lot more compact, I'm sure.

It's the modular CAA one. I'm not a big fan of the "K", but I'm thinking about possibly swapping out the CAA one for the MOE+ rubberized one. Yes, it's more compact with the 20-round PMAGs to be certain (or the LAR-15's).

Mine's pretty compact for a 7". Will be interesting to see what the revised length is with that new NEA stock.
