To me, a PDW's length is defined by the user's ability to exit tight confines. The PDW should be no longer than the shoulder width of the user. 20" overall length is the maximum in my mind. Try climbing out of a hatch with some of these 14" barreled "PDWs" that some are posting and you'll realize that they really aren't PDWs.

I can strap my PS90 across my chest and it doesn't extend beyond my shoulders. That was one of the criteria set out by NATO when the call came for a PDW for pilots and tankers.

Same idea for me.

What's the overall length of that with the stock collapsed?

Definitely curious, google indicates it's within just a few inches of a full size Tavor for OAL, without the ballistics naturally. If it was a buffer tubeless system like the KAC, maybe I could understand, but I'm struggling to understand why one would want a 7" 5.56/223 AR, and how it could be considered a PDW. But, this is Canada, and we have these guns only because they look cool and there's nothing wrong with that!

At some point here looking at these I can't help but wonder what the reasoning is. A P90 will do the same thing, with far less blast, smaller and sleeker, but no ten round mags I suppose. Not trying to rain on any parade, just curious how these qualify as PDWs.

Touché :)

For three extra inches, using the common mags as mentioned above by TSE, I think Tavor is a no brainer. Non-restricted to boot. I imagine it's the same length as a 10.5" AR, maybe even a hair smaller, is the Tavor a PDW?

well to respond to your original post about the 7" AR, my DPMS kitty kat 7.5" was surprisingly accurate at 100 yards :)

I'm no pro, I just like to shoot  Hitting old cell phones and other electronics at 100 yards was so much fun:D

So yea. PDW all the way :)
