PDW optic suggestions?

I am building a PDW, just waiting on my billet upper and lower to come in on the next IRG import. Should be here in about 2-3 weeks as I have already received a notification for the transfer and paid my tax/shipping link

The rifle will be 7.5" Noveske barrel with a TROY PDW stock kit, so very compact and short

This will be my 2nd rifle, currently I own a DD MK18 with a EXPS3-0 and a G33 magnifier. So for the PDW Id like to try a different optic. I planed to get a Elcan SpecterDR 4x/1x in the near future after handling one at my range. I really want that and will get one regardless in the future, just not sure if I should get it now for this build

I just dont know if that is too big of an optic to use on the PDW, and if I should go with something smaller like a Aimpoint. And if I do go with an Aimpoint what is the best model suited for a PDW in your opinion?

So what would you do? ELcan or Aimpoint? ANd which one?

Eotech should be decent,..although STS or like the like should be good to go. I have a few Eotechs, ..Vortex Strike force..etc..

Already have an Eotech on my 1st rifle, so I dont want to spend that amount of money on the same optic. Id rather try something new......

Price isnt that big of a deal I was willing to pay over $2000 for the Elcan so Id rather stick with a bigger brand name like Aimpoint...

I am looking at the T2, T1 is the older model if I cam correct

Perhaps then, you could get an Elcan, put it on your MK18, and take that Eo and put it on the PDW. I'd run it without the magnifier on that build myself.

RMR would work fine with a riser...or one of the Micros. I'd go with nothing bigger. I've been intrigued with the Holosun sights--I had sort of written them off as a cheesy Micro clone but I think I may have sold them short.

What Aimpoint model would you suggest? RMR I could always add as a back up sight for close range. possibly even on a 45 offset

Personally, I'm more of a fan of the EOtechs, I like the improved FOV, and reticle over the Aimpoint.
That said, if I was building another PDW, no one can go wrong with a AP micro, or a Trijicon RMR. I think for that particular setup, the RMR would be ideal. They're as tough as nails, weightless, snag free, bright and last many hours. They also have different models and reticulals to suit anyone.

This is a very subjective question, only you will be able to select the one that's best for you. What I will say though, the Specter is a great sight, but less than ideal for the setup you're looking for.

Yeah, I like them a lot. I owned two—one on a restricted Vector and another on an FS2000. I don't own any of the guns or sights any more but I did like them and wouldn't hesitate to buy one again. I wrote a thread here about the one I had on my FS2000.

I was thinking something a little bigger then an RMR, though I do have a dual illuminated green dot RMR on one of my Glock 17's and really like it on that. Also for rifles Im a right handed left eye shooter so I need a big riser for optics on most rifles Ive tried so far. What is the difference between the T1/T2 and Micro? Is it just size or does it lack some features because of size? Also does it use the same mounts? If I got with either Aimpoint I believe I will need the co witness or 1/3 riser to use it, I had to get a riser for my Eotech to view it comfortably

My Eotech is Tan to go with the MK18 clone theme, and I want to go all black with this build. Im torn I still want to try a Elcan but now everyone here has me wanting a Aimpoint too
