Well, final payment was made today and I brought my PE-90 Black special target home. Sorry I don't have a camera. I'll try and borrow one in the next few days.

I have to say, I was impressed enough to buy it after handling one. After taking it apart, cleaning etc. I'm extremely impressed.

Why can't our ARs have take down pins like that? The take down on this rifle is excellent. Everything is well thought out. Even the integrated bipod, when not in use flattens out the forearm for better bench shooting. The trigger is fairly good when you treat it like a two stage (not sure if it is or not). The mag system is excellent. It took a bit to get used to rocking the mag in, but they work well and drop free. The stock, I like especially how it folds out of the way for transport.

While there was definately some "sticker" shock. I'm pretty happy with this purchase. The test target was pretty good on this one too. I checked the test targets on two others that came in after and mine had the tighter group. So I'm happy.

Pictures when I can borrow a camera.

PE-90 is the Swiss Arms/ SIG rifle. It looks like the STG 550.

It is .... wait for it....... Non-restricted .223 fun.

I suspect this semi auto is accurate enough to use for varminting, and definately good enough for coyotes.

I've heard that too about the shift in POI.

I took mine apart today including the handguards and the bipod on mine is integrated into the lower handguard. It doesn't contact the barrel. So unless I put a fair amount of pressure downwards it shouldn't affect anything. Or so I hope. I guess I'll have to find out.

Which weight of ammo do these rifles generally favour? 63grain? 65 grain?

I was on a waiting list at a local store. The guy ahead of me on the list also had a down payment on a Tavor and I gather interests changed during the wait and that person decided to go for the Tavor instead. So I ended up with the PE-90.

When The shooting edge gets them in (Importer also site sponsor), some are available directly from them others go to their distributors. If your lucky you might find a distributor that has one. However they sell out really fast. Two more came in after mine and they were both bought within a week.

Your PE-90 was built the same way everyone elses was.
Use of the bi-pod will change the POI with just the weight of the rifle on it.
The 1:10 twist barrel will do well with everything up to and maybe including 69 grain SMKs.
1:7 barrels are out there if you favour heavier/longer bullets.

The bipod contacts the handguard which rest on the barrel, thats why it affects POI, its not free floated.

TSE and Wolverine supplies are some of the major Swiss Arms dealers for the PE90. Either is excellent to deal with.

I bought a 5/30 round magazine while when I picked mine up. I wanted two but have to wait until the next shipment comes in. I'm also planning on getting two 5/20 round mags.

The 30 round mag sure looks good in this rifle.

I'm not too worried about the bipod. I'll zereo it with and without and see how bad it is.

Pictures don't do this firearm justice. With the 30 round mag it looks good. The hanguard by the way is a very good shape, and I really like how easily it disasemblies while field stripping the rifle. All around a very clever and well executed design.

I have one as well Epoxy7, damn accurate rifle. It shot everything I threw at it under an inch at 100 yds. I personally don't like the mag system of having to rock it in, but I'm sure i will get used to it. I can't wait to take it out after some gophers in the spring.

The rocking in does take some getting use to. I prefer the regular method as well. Although the mags seem to be very well made and I like the ability to clip them together.

I'm glad it's as accurate as I've heard. I'll try and post some pics when I can. I'm in the middle of my work week so it's tough (especially since I have to borrow a camera).

Right now I'm stuck in the stamp collecting method for guns. IE I have lots of guns and no scopes. I keep saying only one more then scopes. So far it hasn't happened. I think I'm close though :D. Maybe this time.

Bbartsch,
I see you're in the Peace region. Did you order yours directly (internet/mail) or did a local shop have one?

If you did basic with the old C1 then rocking the mags in is natural... if you did it with the C7 then maybe not. If you did neither then this post if meaningless ;)

You'll love your Black Special! I have a lot of fun with mine. I was lucky to buy it second hand with little use. I have seen a few used ones floating around a couple of Alberta's gun stores a couple of months back. I also have the CQB and enjoy it just as much if not more. I bought my Black Special with a CQ/T but just sold it to a buddy and put my ACOG on it. Both are awesome but I'm more familiar with the ACOG. I think the way the mags attach togeather is another one of the Swiss Arm's great features and also an advantage. I have 2 sets of 5/30 round mags attached togeather in groups of 4. Switching mags is generally a lot quicker then AR mag changes. The mag system makes a distinct sound when positivley seated and the feel of mag lockup is also confirmation. Love that ring of the bolt slamming forward with the touch of the bolt release switch. The bolt release switch alone seems to be in a more instinctual position then on my AR. Again, super fast mag changes with multiple detachable magazines is one of the gun's best features and to my advantage. Someone did however point something out that I think is notable and that is that the entire gun is dependant on it's bolt release knob. If for some reason it falls out of the gun it's hooped. It doesn't appear that it's likely to happen but such a small thing could cripple the gun instantly. The trigger guards' lateral movement for wearing gloves or mitts is also very cool but obviously not as safe. I also love the fact that it hurles my brass way forward. Others shooters get a rise out of it too. As I mentioned, you're going to love it!!!

The only drawback to that ejection pattern is the fact that it beats the hell out of the brass! My big regret is that my Swiss rifles aren't exactly reloader friendly! :)

I'll be putting a scope on mine. The 10 shot factory grouping was exceptionally good on this one. It's getting the DM treatment.

I may end up getting a CQB later on and or a classic green. I'll mount something more "tactical" on those ones.
