Pedersoli. Copy of win 71

I think the early guns had feeding problems because it is more of a copy of the Winchester 71 instead of the 86.There is a bit of a lug/lip on the bolt of the 86 that helps with the loading of the 45/70 round that was not on the 71 as the 348 cartridge is lighter than the 45:70 so it s not needed on the 71Win.I believe that Pedersoli rectified this problem and the current versions work great

I have one, good trigger. Shoulders well, seems accurate with regular jacketed bullets. I've been struggling with campro though. My biggest complaint is the front site, too big of a bead, prefer blade for accuracy. Which by your sig line you won't like as well.

I liked the 86/71 that I had just fine. Fitted 'er with the Pedersoli optional peep sight to suit me eyes. Real nice shooter with my hardcast loads.
Quality rifles they be.

I just ordered one of these from Marstar, going to order the peep tomorrow as they just informed me they have them in stock, can’t wait to try it out with the variety of loads I have on hand for my other 45/70’s

Every time I see you post that I find myself unsure of how to feel. I like it and hate it all at the same time. But I think I hate it because I'm supposed to, not because any of the modern tweaks detract from it's usability.

I hear ya, but I'll tell ya one thing... It's not 'traditional', BUT IT IS FRIGGEN AWESOME!!! :ar15:

Shot my 1886/ 71 45/70 today it did amazingly well with 405 Remingtons hand loaded to about 1550 fps.

The rear peep sight really helps with these. I need to figure out a different front sight , not a fan of the bead. Too bad they didn't make the front a dovetail that can be pushed out and replaced.

I was able to get mine shooting decent with the campro 405gr. About 3.5 inch groups @100m. Which considering the bead basically covered the target circle isn't bad. I need to use a bigger target for it and try again.
