Hey guys-I know the prices are nuts looking at the sets, but really....only needing to replace the one pc. that gets cut. Want to change the configuration to 2 long guns from one, but the case has only travelled once=all the foam is in great condition... Just need the center pc. really.

Out of luck, or is it possible to order the 1 pc.?

If you are considering sometimes swapping your layout, then might as well buy the Magpul DAKA GRID Organizer, Pelican 1750. That would give you flex for future evolution without being worried about the foam.

I used kiasen foam for a few projects. Its cutable and shapable for depth
It can be found online. I cant recall the exact place I sourced from
Not exactly cheap but stands up very well

Remove the cut foam piece and pack both rifles in quality soft cases with the bolts removed. put rifles in opposed with butts at each end and securely bubble wrap bolts and fill voids with towels t-shirts or anything light to fill voids and eliminate movement. With a good padded case they dont move around anyways and the bonus is you have cases for when your travelling or hunting at your destination. I think I might know where your going lol

As someone that is planning a trip that involves flying I reckon the soft case in the hard case is the way to go.

The DAKA looks like a nice system.

Can be tailored to snugly fit any rifle / gear without cutting (think lego blocks that can be added / removed) and would be less likely to hold moisture should that be a concern. It would also be much easier to clean.

I've used the soft-case in hardcase option - I think that it's the better solution for when you get to your destination. You might be able to order the single piece or get a recommendation from a vendor that creates customized interiors for specialty gear - Optimal Cases and Lights Inc. in Calgary has been great to deal with.

I'd just like to touch on the daka system specifically with the 1750 since I own one. It's great and it works awesome for guns that aren't overly wide. My issue with it is the bottom section that houses the grid makes it incompatible with a bolt gun in a chassis with a scope that has larger turrets. If you have a modern scope with larger turrets for parallax or windage it will tip the gun up forcing the opposite turret up so much you will not be able to close the lid. I took the top section of pelican foam out and the inside of the pelicans lid still touched the the windage turret and you will definitely scuff up your turrets trying to close it which I would not recommend at all. Large turrets won't be able to fit in the square holes because they are too small, you won't be able to keep your bolt in the gun closed and you will have spent a bit of money to not get the desired result. You could use a hole saw attachment on a drill if you're set on it and it might relax how the gun lays in the case so the turret can lay down flat. If the height of the grid system was a bit lower it might have worked better for my intended purpose but alas that was not the case.

The daka is great for guns that don't have alot of bulk side to side, guns with red dots, hunting rifles with slimmer scopes. But if you intend to use it for a precision gun in a chassis with beefy turrets, or a shotgun with an aluminum shell carrier on the side kiss that idea good bye and just buy kaizen foam and get it cut by a company that can do it cleanly unless you want to attempt it yourself.

super useful, thanks! Looks like DAKA will only be an option for my V730

The daka system always seemed a bit janky and coarse to me. Has anyone used the Pelican "reset" system that came out a year or so ago?

I went a different direction, before daka or reset existed. I have an AG M2010 soft case that I can use inside my 1750, as well as a Savior LRP soft case that I can use inside a Vault v800.
