Hey gang,

Just curious if anyone uses a Pelican case to transport and store their pistols in and what model they would use? I've been looking at a couple to keep the pistols in and wanted feedback from anyone that might already be using them.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,

I use two Pelican 1500s to carry and store four of my handguns. I cut out the foam to fit each gun. I have not had any problems with them.

I use a large Pelican to hold a pair of M-14's. I've also got some others of varying sizes for various applications (electronics and such).

Without exception, they're tough, secure, and protect well. They're just not cheap.

Another brand you should take a look at are Hardigg Stormcases. Same basic idea as a Pelican but just an alternative. Might be a little harder to find compared to Pelican.

Personally I like the Stormcase latches as you have to press a button on the latch for them to open.

I use Pelican for everything, buy them new, used, broken, they just work better than anything I have come across.

My 1650 fell out of the back of my truck with 10K worth of microscope gear in it, on a gravel highgrade at 100km/hr. A few gravel scuffs on the case and not a flaw on the gear. Excellent product.

And I use them for guns too....lol. ;)

Check C2Csafety (coast to coast safety) on evilbay I he carries a wide variety of cases and with shipping you are a little over half price of retail here.

I just got a 1750 (big rifle case) for 221 shipped by fedex, no duties or taxes at my door :D

I've been looking for custom foam for my Pelican cases. I've seen quite a few out there... But I can't seem to find custom foam for single guns... Like the P229 or Glock 17 plus a few mags for say the Pelican 1400 or 1500. Anyone seen any of these kicking around?

It's fun cutting the foam and having everything fit nice. I just need to get the Visualock for the G20C and it will all look good again.

LOL, "ghetto bling". Damn it man, that's the reason I bought the thing.:D Actually, the Gold Titanium coating is Magnum Research's strongest coating. It's the same coating they use on drill bits to make them last longer.

As for cutting the foam, I used a wire foam cutting tool that I made. Here is a great forum for doing it yourself. h t tp://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=292695 . Check out some of the incredible work done by the guys posting there. There's also some guys that used an electric carving knife but the results just aren't as clean as usig a hot wire. I copied the OP and made the exact same wire jig, except that I used a computer power supply. If you hook it up to the 5V leads instead of the 12V leads then the wire heats up to the perfect temp. It worked out awesome.
