People Asking Me To Sell Them Components

Any person that demands you sell them something can go pound sand. Tell them no and walk away. I have tons of cash invested in my reloading supplies and components for one reason...for ME! I will share (mostly trade back and forth) with my very best friends, but the rest can politely go get their own supplies. I have shotgun and rifle powder, wads, shot, primers, bullets, hulls, brass, dies, presses...all at my expense and effort. Nobody os telling me who I have to share it with.

I made a post on this board detailing what was happening in the States.

That was just after the buying panic started, about 2 months ago.

I was told, loudly, by some folks that I didn't know what I was talking about...... and that I had better go adjust my tinfoil hat.

Fine. But I have tooling for 30 calibres, so I had to do something

I went out (a month ago) and got a fresh roll of tinfoil.......and some powder and a whack of primers. I already had sufficient rifle powder.

They come begging to me for ammo, I will offer them a nice piece of tinfoil.

I spent 60 years being a sucker for people who refuse to listen. I have now given that up.

I feel sorry for the people who don't have the common sense to have a decent supply on hand, but that doesn't mean I feel responsible for them. We just went through this 4 years ago, so it's not like it's a new concept. Too bad, so sad.

I agree with most posters here. I have spent considerable time money & energy building my modest stockpile to cover my own needs. Nobody is going to save my bacon if I run out nor do I feel they have a duty to. Likewise, I have no duty to supply others. Now having said that ...... a mutually beneficial trade might be entertained.

Sometimes that is impossible. Many like us in NS far away from the big suppliers in Ontario do bulk purchases yearly with their clubs so everyone gets to see what comes in and for who normally.
Cabelas in Moncton will be a welcome sight for us in NB and you folks as well.

It will for sure. For years I have been doing a yearly or 2 year bulk buy of powder etc.
Since I retired it is hard to come up with the cash all at once
I have been a cabelas customer state side since the 60's and love all of their stuff.
Mama won't be happy since when the girls head to Moncton for their shopping trips which they do a few times a year they may have a new passenger . ME :)

I hope it's well supplied. There doesn't seem to be very many reloaders here in NB so demand may be low for a wide range of components.

I stocked up at the right time, and continue to buy whatever powder I can get when I can get it. I use about 6 different powders and try to have at least one unopened can of each powder but no more then 3 lbs of any one powder, I'm not greedy, and if a store only has 4lbs I won't clean them out. I don't mind sharing a little but i'm not a horder.

I even sold a pound of powder to a young guy that was just getting inot reloading before hunting season so that he could work up a load for his new hunting rifle. I'll share a little, but I'm not the store.

Same here. We are a dying breed unfortunately. Must have bought out 5 or 6 of the old local die hards in the past 10 years most in their 70's now and not shooting any more. 12 or so shot gun reloaders I know left at the club at that is it. Rifle almost non existant

That sucks when everyone wants what you got I'm lucky I don't know anyone that reloads but sometime it would be nice to have some good advices nexttime they ask just tell them to go play with the lines on the road

After the US presidential election of 2008, the writing was on the wall......Go ahead, think back during the years of 2000-2008 under the Bush administration...did you have any great amount of difficulty getting reloading components.....?? Now think about the last 6 years of the present administration.....and especially this last year.......things aren't as rosie compared to 6 years ago, now are they.??

In December of 2008, I spent a large amount on supplies, because I knew things were about to change for the worse....and they have......In any supply chain, the outpost furthest from the source is the first to suffer any decline in supply.....

People need to stockpile their own stuff.I only bail out a couple close friends that I know I can count on.Everyone else is on their own.If the SHTF I don't recommend ringing my doorbell..........Harold

I have been accused of being "stingy" when I refuse to part with my stocks of components.

It doesn't bother me a bit, since I am well-stocked, and have no intention of shorting myself to
satisfy someone who did not prepare for the lack.

Like some others on here, I have a very small group of intimate friends. We look after one another.

Regards, Dave.

At the range, this guy I'd seen there before, shooting a nice AIA, but had forgotten some cheap ammo to sight in its scope. I offered to share, to sell him some of what I'd just picked up at my cost, neighbourly fellow I am..

Guy offers me less than my cost for half my newly bought ammo. Couldn't believe it. (No more mercy, either.....)
